37. I wrote Jennings
after the segment. I told him that it was a pity he slopped a lousy story together to silence the flood of e-mails he got from us democracy loving folks. He just wanted to get all those e-mail advocates off his back.

7. Worried?
They were so dumbly incompetent that it was easy to see they were out of the loop. Jennings has nothing to worry about. He never even gave a hint he could imagine what the five letter word stood for in his pure, world or untainted democracy.

Can you say Incompetence theory? Or Irrelevance?

Why watch the sap?

9. We need to critique their report, and hit them with feedback.
Some of what they reported is accurate (adjusted numbers today in Cuyahoga), but they toss-off concerns regarding exit poll differences with the vote count as silly -- wholly disregarding the fact that it was the exit polls that were accurate in Florida in 2000, and NOT the machines.

10. thats what makes me angry...
The way that fl county breakdown of party story broke without any background made it so easy for the media to crush it and then group all the other questions and concerns with it. As I said in other posts the media considers the internet to be their enemy and they are just looking for stuff to "debunk."

12. Yep, that's why ya wanna be careful about what you follow.

It's very similar to the CBS News "memogate." Once the memos were shown to be (likely) forgeries, all criticism of Bush's TANG record was tainted.

18. I think Olberman did us a disservice...
All this stuff should not have reached the mass media so soon. We are naive if we think we don’t have to engage in our own spin and packaging. We have to anticipate what they are going to say ahead of time. It's not just as simple as getting the word out about fraud as quickly as possible.

I did not see the Media trying real hard to debunk the Memo Gate Blog Story with Rather they took it and ran with it,why?? Because it supported Bush. I am sorry but out News Media all of it even sadly the Washington Post are inept and dangerously incompatent at best stupid and bought off at worst.

23. true...
but even though that was the primary source they never really pushed it as such - it was all "expert analysis." In this case, however, its not something they want to talk about so they happily attribute it to blogs and conspiracy websites and this plays right with their see-that's-why-you-need-us message.

17. THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY SURREAL
How many times did they say "conspiracy theory?" And is the news media EVEN AWARE that AEI is a neocon organization that cranks out such beauts as Richard Perle and that crackpot Danielle girl who writes "conspiracy theories" about Saddam Hussein blowing up the OK federal building?

Here's my true gut feeling. There was fraud. There's no way that it can ever be proven. Somebody doesn't want it to be proven -- but people know. Like Peter Fucking Jennings, who just did the most surreal news story that I've ever seen.

Black is still white, people, and it's not getting or going to get any better.

32. Stunned.
Well, the report certainly neglected much of what I thought was evidence. However, this WEB site and BBV are my only real sources, as the media hasn't exactly been following this story. . .
No matter, a report like that will stick in the minds of doubters and it won't matter how convincing the data is later. I already have friends who are avoiding me because I can't let go of this - and these are my LIBERAL friends! I can't face 4 more years like the last 4, but I don't know what my options are. I have all of my hope in this one basket. Do I believe this because it is true, or because I can't accept the alternative?

Is there somewhere out here at DU or at BBV where the data has been compiled into one place? I am still learning my way around this site and there is SO much out here - there is no way I can read it all. If someone could just point me to a spot (if one exist) where everything is altogether - the FL issues, the Ohio issues, the NH issues - and I even think I read something about NC this weekend.

The sad thing is, none of this even talks about the underhanded schemes to make the lines longer, to limit the number of available machines, the attempts to mislead people . . . and these things were every bit as complicit as manipulation through the machines, but will be even harder, if not impossible to prove.

Was what Jennings said about Cuyahoga country "took it all back" true? They are almost convincing - and I know what that means - it means I better start learning how to let go of this. . . somehow.

33. we all got smacked...instead of letting go of it, let it fuel
involvement like never before. For example, until this year my only involvement was voting. This year however, I felt it was so important I became involved in some new ways. For one, I volunteered thru my county Democrat Party to be an election judge. It was empowering. I got to see that everything went smoothly in that precinct (which it did, thank God, absolutely nothing unusual). I also contacted my precinct comitteeman to introduce myself (I just moved) and let him know that I am proud to be a democrat and if he needed anything at all to give me a call. I am willing to put up signs at election time, drive people to the polls on election day, make phone calls on behalf of the party, or whatever. I also registered 3 new Democrats (not a lot necessarily, but hey every little bit helps). I intend to continue to do these things, and I think, based on how everyone here feels about this election, you all will too. We must reach people like never before, and I am sure after 4 more years of God-knows-what-next, people might be even more receptive to our message. But reaching new people isn't enough, we also have to be involved with the party on a local level. My county has a Democrat Men's club which meets once a month, and I am sure the same is true in localities all over the country. We need to attend those meetings to see what our party as a whole is talking about and doing. Where the party is doing the right things we need to support them. And where they are lacking, we need to speak up and get them to examine the issues (ie: Black Box voting needs to be front and center moving forward, until auditable paper trails are mandatory. This needs not be considered a fringe issue by conspiracy theorists, but rather a mainstream, accepted idea that our democracy lives or dies on this issue, because it does.

34. Well, we need to bombard ABC with our opinions and facts
If enough viewers of this segment are outraged, and voice this outrage to ABC, I am sure that sooner or later someone will take it a little more seriously.

We need to present facts. Pure emotion won't cut it.

I am writing my letter as soon as possible.

That people had to stand in lines for hours and hours, IN AMERICA, I guess that would be a silly complaint. That all the shitty voting machines go to poor minority neighborhoods, more silliness. That 3 percent of the vote is spoiled due to chads when the vote is so close...now I'm really being silly. That despite all this crap, all of the votes haven't even been counted. So much silliness.

44. Do you know why??
It was the right wing who started the smear about those who are suspicious of what goes on behind the scenes-- to allay suspicion (since they've got a ton of stuff they have to keep covered up), they came up with a pejorative name for those who believe important stuff is being kept from them: "conspiracy nut," or "conspiracy buff," or anything with "conspiracy" in it. Immediately, people shy away from you-- immediately, you're branded as a nut and discounted. That's another cute little strategy of theirs. And it has been utilized successfully since JFK was assassinated. And for good reason. It works.

No one can tell me this bunch doesn't engage in strategic planning-- plans they'd rather we not know about. What is that if not conspiratorial??

History is full of conspiracy, starting out with Caesar's murder-- so to intimate that it doesn't exist is absurd-- and dangerous. These creeps have hidden behind their mini smear campaign for a long time-- and they will continue to as long as it works.

Don't let them cow you!!

Boy you really put a lot of effort into that one. I guess the congressmen are silly too, and that Diebold said it would deliver Ohio...that's pretty silly. Not being able to audit electronic voting machines because there is no paper trail and the code is secret... that's really silly. Closing the courthouse in Ohio due to "terrorism"...that's not silly is it.

But we should overlook that. We shouldn't be suspicious. After all, ABC and the rest of the Liberal media did such a stellar job of questioning Bush about Weapons of Mass Destruction and telling lies in the State of the Union address, and sicking the swift boat traitors on Kerry.
Looks like you don't care what happens in this country unless it's stabbed, raped or given a blowjob.
