The congressional bill to require a paper trail has been sitting in the House for year and a half. We need to write to our Representatives and get this passed!
For some odd reason, the Republican-controlled House didn't act on it.
Let's DEMAND it.

1. Wanna know the fix?
Start writing your reps. And start letting people know locally.

The more contact they get on this, the more they will take it seriously.

Now, if we could only get De Lay indicted for something...

3. the so called honerable Congressman

Robert Ney (R) is ironically enough from Ohio (the great land of Diebold.) He is in charge of what goes to the floor and has been blocking this legislation from the get go.

We should pester him relentlessly. IMHO

I have been for months and he strangely seems to be ignoring me.

7. Yeah, and our very own Steny Hoyer (author of HAVA)
hasn't been particularly helpful on the issue either. It might be worth looking into HIS campaign contributors and such.

4. H.R.2239 gets "some" Democratic Support", S.1980 does not..
get much at all. Both of these bills were out there for a very long time. What a shame that we are still discussing this after all of the nonsense that has happened in 2000, 2002, and 2004! Honestly, if we care to have a "democratic society" whereas every vote counts, then why was there no more support to bring both of these bills to the forefront of the minds of the American people. I realize the media took a "boot" seat, but, this should have been "slammed" in the Congressional Newsletters from all supporting members who had supported these bills to their constituancies. I am still disgusted that there were so many members of the Democratic Delegation of the US Senate were so "negligent"!

8. The bills are dead
They expire at the end of the term, and will need to be resubmitted for consideration. And the buildup of cosponsors will have to be pursued once again.

A working group may want to form, when time allows, to propose revised text to HR2239 which was somewhat weak/flawed.

9. to get the Repukes to act on it
You MUST hit their base in their states and alert them to what they are doing.

They constantly do stuff that their (even our theocon Americans) do not want them to do.

This is one of them.
