Accusations of targeted American Press, now gaining truth...
I have heard for some time now the accusations that our military has been targeting American Journalists for death in Iraq. It is a horrifying and disturbing possibility, and one that we as a Nation do not want to accept. Yet, this Italian Journalist's claims are bringing light onto this possibility. If proven true, it is undeniable proof of this Administration's strangle hold of the fourth estate at whatever cost...including life. We must fight for our information and get to the actual facts that are happening there and here. We are lost without reality, a reality, that the regime Mr. bush has installed is at war with.
I ask that you stay aware of this deeply troubling event and keep focused on what the oppositional information sources are providing. I become more and more concerned about the lack of power our Main Stream monopolized corporate media sources have.

I know that this war is based on lies.
I know this election's outcome is based on lies.
I know the "power of mandate" is based on lies.
I know the "message " that is being promoted on any level by this neocon nightmare is highly orchestrated and not bound by any rules of reality.
and I know that the truth is a power worth fighting and dying for.
We have lost so many Americans, that gave their life to provide us with this right.
We must honor their ultimate sacrifice and demand our system of government be based on an open and free discourse of information. This is what Democracy is and this is what a Democracy does.

US attack against Italians in Baghdad was deliberate: companion --The
companion of freed Italian journalist Giuliana Sgrena on Saturday
leveled serious accusations at US troops who fired at her convoy as
it was nearing Baghdad airport, saying the shooting had been
deliberate. "The Americans and Italians knew about (her) car coming,"
Pier Scolari said on leaving Rome's Celio military hospital where
Sgrena is to undergo surgery following her return home. "They were
700 meters (yards) from the airport, which means that they had passed
all checkpoints." The shooting late Friday was witnessed by Prime
Minister Silvio Berlusconi's office which was on the phone with one
of the secret service agents, said Scolari. "Then the US military
silenced the cellphones," he charged. "Giuliana had information, and
the US military did not want her to survive," he added.

1. No doubt in my mind it was intentional...or that they have been targeting
journalists all along. Too many stories the govt wants to keep from the public.

2. The evidence of this goes all the way back to the first few days...
...after U.S. troops entered Baghdad a few weeks into the Iraq War when the downtown hotel was fired upon by U.S. troops and tanks killing several journalists on the top several floors of the hotel and wounding a number of others. U.S. military claimed then that it had been an accident, part of the intensity of fighting, but I was never convinced that their explanation had any validity.

4. There have been an unusually high number of casualties among...
...journalists in Iraq, including the targeting of the Jerusulam Hotel in Baghdad (everybody knew it was filled with journalists--and when the tank turned and blew away a corner of the building, there were journalists and cameras set up on several balconies--no way they didn't know) and the US bombing of the Al-Jazeera office (one journalist killed--Al-Jazeera had notified US military of the coordinates of its office, to protect its journalists--which the US military then apparently used then to bomb the office).

Many complaints by journalist organizations. US military has stonewalled it all.

5. Eason Jordan was right
and for even asking the question, he was forced to resign from a 23 year career at CNN.

6. update... Laura Flanders show...

Giuliana Shooting, Questions Raised

From The Laura Flanders Show (March 5th, 2005)

Italians are furious about the killing of Italian negotiator Nicola
Calipari and the wounding of journalist Giuliana Sgrena and a second
intelligence officer Friday by US forces in Iraq.

The three were shot at by US forces as their car approached Baghdad
airport shortly after Calipari secured Sgrena's release from
kidnappers, who had held the journalist captive for a month.

SNIP

Calipari, said Sermonti, "Was a very experienced member of the
anti-mafia police. He was very experienced in the area of
hostage-taking, and a very valuable officer."

SNIP

"Italians want an explanation that's a little bit more serious than
the kind of joke we've got that these people were speeding. In that
car were some of the most experienced officers in Iraq who know how
to deal with a roadblock."

While US military spokespeople allege that Calipari's car was
speeding, unidentified, towards an Army checkpoint, Sgrena's
life-partner, Pier Scolari, told Italian media that Calipari's car
was a few hundred meters from the airport and already past all US
checkpoints when the attack began.

Sermonti, who spoke with Scolari, says, further, that "Calipari was
speaking in English with someone in the airport telling them to get
ready when, just as they reached the
airport, without any warning, the opened fire."

"They're talking about 300 bullets from different weapons,"
said Sermonti. US military spokespeople say soldiers fired at the
car's engine block. "With heavy weapons, bullets fly all over,"
responds Sermonti. "From the reconstruction of the events, it's a
miracle everyone isn't dead."

SNIP

According to Scolari, says Sermonti, Giuliana had been warned by her
captives that "the Americans didn't want her to get out of Iraq."

SNIP

"She had some information about the use of illegal weapons by US
forces in Fallujah that was very sensitive. A very hot topic. There
were rumors of some use of chemicals and a number of weapons that are
not legal -- like and phosphorus."

SNIP

On the US front, pressure for a serious inquiry has yet to build, and
the deadly attack on Sgrena's car grabbed little attention on the
Sunday morning political talk shows on TV. President Bush made no
mention of the Nicola killing in his weekly radio address to the
nation. His first response was to dispatch an acting undersecretary
of State to express condolences to Italy's Ambassador.

7. What made Eason Jordan backtrack on his initial claims?
Did Guckert/Gosch get to him? Was CNN headquarters targeted by NORAD?
