I am scared to death right now yall!
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 11:44 PM by Andy_Stephenson
and I don't know how to calm my fears. Tomorrow I go to the hospital. I am scared of what they may find. I can't sleep and my mouth is dry. Shit! How the hell did this happen? Why is this happening to me? I look like a redheaded banana and the itching has come back. I feel like I have a thousand spiders crawling all over my body.

I admit it I am a big ol chicken. Nighttime is always the worst! I have been looking up liver diseases on the web and everything seems really really bad. I am trying to be optimistic I have slept drank lots of water eaten right...

I have never been much of a drinker always have been good to my liver...how can this be happening? Perhaps I am just being silly. But everything I have read is so...well...dire. I have faced other things I should have been afraid of...and wasn't..but I am very frightened right this minute. Any Doctors in the house? Would one single valium hurt to take tonight? I need some sleep and I am afraid I cannot do it on my own.

I really wish my Mom was here with me tonight...I think I would be less scared. I was shaking earlier..not cause I was cold...but in fear. Sorry for rambling but I am freaked ta hell out and I need a sounding board. Thanks fer listening.

Andy

I am not a doctor but I would think one valium wouldn't hurt.

You need to relax and calm down. You can make yourself sicker.

Let us know what you find out. I for one will be thinking about you tomorrow.

Sending good vibes your way :grouphug:

3. Oh God Andy
I am so sorry. I would call a doctor and ask if you can take a valium because that, or a xanax, is what you need right now. But also know you have love and support from all over the world. I have a candle lit for you.

Stop looking up liver diseases. Start looking up naturopaths and accupuncturists. The latter have been treating diseases for 4000 years, and both know what they're doing, I believe better than "standard" practices.

In any case, you are so loved and we all want you to know that. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. If you want me to call, PM me.

34. Well, since they've ruled out cirrhosis and HIV
You might be able to risk that Valium tonight.

If it had been cirrhosis from either viral or chemical causes, that wouldn't be a good idea. Nearly all drugs are metabolized in the liver.

In the meantime, don't trouble trouble until trouble troubles you. The scan could be normal and they'd have to consider other things that cause intense itching.

If it is cancer, liver cancer is one of the kinder ways to go. We all hope it's something chronic and annoying, though, and that you'll be posting here for a very long time.

53. Relax. It's there.
Two loved ones have died in the past few years. I have no doubt whatsoever that it's there anymore.

Most traditions around the world, until Chrisianity came along and wiped them out, had direct experience of the other side.

Being gay is seen as a spiritual blessing in many cultures. A friend of mine from Burkina Faso is even writing a book about how gay people are the gatekeepers who tend the other worlds for the normal people. It is seen as a special blessing in his culture, the Dagara.

Relax. You are in good hands and there is nothing to fear. I just wish someone was with you at all times until you get through this.

86. Yes, Andy, there absolutely is another side; of this I am sure. I know far
too many people who have had out of body and near death experiences, including my very own sister. She had an auto accident at age fifteen (she is 48 now) and was up above her body, watching them load it into the ambulance, wanting to tell all the freaked out people that she was just fine. Since then, she has had NO fear of death because she knows she is a Soul living in a body, and that she exists independently of that body. I have heard that over and over from people who have had these kinds of experiences! I seem to have run into a lot of these people in my life.

And you can keep the frilly underwear! It's the people you are fighting in your work, who have no integrity or compassion and care only for staying in power, who are at risk for not having such a good time when their karma catches up with them.

I am so glad you posted this and I hope all the responses help you feel better!

but - for now know that you are loved and that you have many friends putting energy into you being OK.

6. Andy I'm sorry you're feeling so anxious...
...I know it must be so difficult to not know what is wrong.

I wish you the best tomorrow at the hospital. I'm glad it's tomorrow, so you don't have to experience these sleepless nights.

Andy, I will tell you that looking up stuff on the Internet can be very nerve wracking!! I've done that several times when I had certain symptoms, or if I was worried about a health issue. Each time, I researched on the 'net--I came away feeling like I would drop dead tomorrow! There's a lot of scary stuff out there on the 'net with regard to health-related issues. Sometimes, the worst-case scenario stuff pops up when you do searches. You really have to take it all with a truckload of salt.

I'm not saying that your situation is unimportant. It truly is and I'm concerned for you, as I am sure everyone is. However, please realize that diagnosing yourself on the 'net can be really horrifying!!

So hang in there. Please remember there are many thinking about you and sending positive thoughts your way.

:)

touch the valium. If your liver is doing strange things you don't know how well it might filter it out or if it would not. I am not a doctor, just an old, long retired ICU nurse. Stop reading about liver disease though it sounds too late, it can only make you feel worse. I am so sorry about this Andy. I know this is scary for you. I am very sorry it is happening but focus on your breath and drink some calming teas like chamomile or passion flower and valerian. Can't speak for drugs ..not my area.

You are truly in the hands of a higher power. Whatever is going on with you, it will be okay. There is nothing to fear.

Just keep telling yourself you are in the hands of the angels, god, the ancestors, whatever it is, it is all totally there for you, no matter what happens.

Plus, you have a huge support system, and we will be by you, no matter what. It is too bad no one is with you right now. No one should have to go through these things alone.

Is there anyone where you are who can stick by you? That is essential. A group to take turns? How can we make that happen?

94. Andy, Listen to me
I don't know if u ever read my post to you previously, but I had a similar problem. I want you to know, that the good news is that the liver heals very very well. Kind of rebuilds like a lizards tail compared to the other organs. That means that even with damage, it can completely recover. Your illness can completely turn back around in an instant too.
It is good that you are going to go get the tests done. A simple blockage could be causing it or if u take any meds for anything, it could have built up a toxic level. My personal opinion is that us redheads may build up a toxic level of stress chemicals, so if they can't figure out what u got, get back with me. Anyway, my point is that even though the liver is so important, it doesn't have to be an end of the world or life changing diagnosis, so just hang on til you get more info.

I am an ultrasound tech and can tell you that this would not effect the study. The rule is nothing to eat after midnight. You may drink water. By the way, a lot of the time jaundice is caused by gallbladder disease and obstruction by a stone. Easily fixed if that's the case. Good luck tomorrow!

40. Yes.
I just had my gall-bladder removed. I didn't have stones. Have been diagnosed with reflux over 15 years. On and off meds all that time. Had this constant mild pain in my right side. Since none of the test showed stones, nothing was done about it until recently. My GI doctor sent me to a surgeon and sure enough, my gall-bladder was chronically inflamed.

Good luck with your test tomorrow. We will be thinking about you.

54. A lot of the symptoms of GB disease are vague.
They range from pain, no pain but bloating. nausea, loss of apetite, etc. Just about anything involving the GI tract will get people sent in for a RUQ (right upper quadrant) ultrasound. When we do one of these we look at the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and measure the bile ducts.

123. your situation sounds very very similar to mine in 1996
my freshman year of college, i was so excited to be there, i forgot to go to bed so many nights. i had classes all day long and then worked as associate music director (many hours, many days) on an operetta, then hung out all night with the new people i'd meet, talking to them about life and the world and such.
most nights i would get back to my dorm room until 3:30 or 4:00 am and then would get up for class at 7:30. a couple of months pass and by the time i noticed how tired i had become, my skin was sickly greenish-yellow, i had 105 degree temp, was falling asleep at completely inappropriate moments, and couldn''t walk 20 feet without becoming exhausted. i had mono (really badly of course), hepatitis (the dr said i didn't get the hepatitis from anyone, my body was just too tired to work correctly, liver included) and jaundice. i had to have ultrasounds done every 2 weeks for a couple of months, total bedrest for a few weeks, and i learned to tolerate the cabin fever that came with my prescription.

i hope that all the tests and diagnosis and prognosis point to something from which you can recover fully. i'll send good thoughts your way tomorrow andy.

one other thing...
it is understandable that you are so worried and want to find things out sooner than later so you look things up online. as someone who knows where you're at and is a recovering worry wart, keep in mind what the worrying will do for you. there isn't productive or good that will come from focusing on the worst case scenario (such as those that you'll see online). be strong (just as you seem to have been throughout other episodes in your life you've shared with DU) and when those thoughts of worry enter your mind, let them enter, but do not let them fester....let them leave as quickly as they came to you. wait until you know what you're dealing with before you give yourself a death sentence.

hang in there. many good thoughts will be with you tomorrow as you receive some news (hopefully)

take good care andy.

93. My husband
had gallstones blocking the bile duct. He had no pain and when he finally did have pain, it was minor. Once the gallstone was removed he realized he had been low-level sick, just not feeling well for at least a year.

Gallstones are definitely a possibility.

Remember, right now worry will not change anything. Whatever is, is... you are loved, you are held in high esteem and we are all singing for your speedy recovery. That's a lot of power on your side.

Accept that whatever will be, will be, and you will feel better. I know lots has been going badly lately for you, but think about whatever is good in your life. What do you have to be thankful for? Concentrate on the good stuff. It sends more good stuff through your body.

I am sorry you are having to go thru this, it is overwhelming right now. Time will pass and things will be better, you'll see.
Andy, your Mom is not there with you right this second but you are in her thoughts most likely when she lays down to sleep at night and first thing in the morning. I am trying to say that she is with you in spirit, I feel that this can happen if you just put her there with your mind. Breathe and relax your mind and body, please. You have to rest to feel better at all !

49. Andy, I don't know your whole medical history or situation
but I am also a nurse. My mother also had liver problems and she was an alcoholic (I know you're not) for years and years. She was up for a liver transplant because it was so bad. They said she only had 5% of her liver working. It has now been almost 5 years and she is now off of the liver transplant list and her liver is stable (she quit drinking, of course). There is hope.

Every liver patient I've known or taken care of manifests symptoms in different ways. Even your itching can be a symptom of increased toxins in the body because the toxins go into the skin. Try good lotions. Stay away from high protein intake at the moment. Drink lots of fluids like cranberry juice unless you are swelling up anywhere. Doctors will sometimes prescribe gentle laxatives for your bowels to move because the toxins are eliminated that way.

I second the opinion that the Valium may be metabolized through your liver (I'm not sure, I'd have to look it up first) so that may not be a good idea.

As to the cause.....if it's not Hep ABC or HIV then have you been taking any medicines regularly that might be metabolized through your liver? Even excess or prolonged intake of Tylenol can cause damage to your liver. You could also have gallstones blocking the drainage from your liver into your bile ducts. This is not uncommon and is a physical blockage problem that can be fixed.

Like I said, if my mom got through it, then you can as well.

Your liver regenerates itself, too, after the initial cause of the problem is removed. Either my mom has been functioning with a %5 functioning liver for 5 years or it has regenerated a bit.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope you see the hope in what I'm saying.

52. I don't take any meds
even when I get a bad headache...medicine is the last thing I try. Usually a hot towel wrapped around my head and a dark quiet place does the trick.

I have been eating mostly veggies for the last week...carrots...boiled beets...greens of all sorts...beans and rice. Been drinking plenty of water with fresh squeezed lemon juice. Been taking milk thistle, tumeric, artichoke leaf and dandelion root extracts. All supposed to cleans and support the liver..

62. The beans might have some protein that you don't want.
They told my mom to focus on carbohydrates that can be easily turned into sugar for energy rather than proteins. That was why she chose to drink cranberry juice all the time.

The rest of what you're doing looks good to me.

35. Try to relax, first...
... and take some comfort in the fact that not all jaundice is directly related to liver disease. Severe itching is often a symptom of obstructive jaundice, where bile salts (stones) partially obstruct the bile duct. Less frequently, it can also be a symptom of pancreatitis.

If you've been overly tired of late, it may also be a symptom of hemolytic anemia.

Try some cold compresses to reduce the itching where it's worst--it's caused by the increase in blood salts in the capillaries, and cooling the skin may reduce blood flow a bit.

Hope you get some rest and some good news tomorrow.

36. Whenever I get really scared.....
I first say 10 hail mary's in rapid fire fashion...lapsed Catholic. Then all of my AA sayings kick in...Fear knocked and faith answered. You are exactly where you are supposed to be, and everything in your past led you to where you are. You would not be who you are if one single thing were changed. There is no good or bad there just IS. When one door closes another one opens, but its hell in the hallways. Let it go. Live in the moment. Miracles are changes in perception, and if you look at something with the slightest of degree of difference the entire picture changes. Remember to breathe...in...and out...big breaths...
hope this helps...there's also a story about Daniel and the Lions Den, where he looks out the barred windows to the light and has no fear. Don't look at the lion Andy, look to the light.

Tomorrow is a good day, because they will be one step closer to finding out what's wrong, so you can fix it. Instead of being scared of what they will find, try to look forward to it in that light.

51. Jeez Andy!
I was just going to send you a few bucks and kick the latest thread on Ensign's bill and then I read this!

Try to calm down. Unless you're in pain, it is probably not serious at this point. I wish I had time to do some med research. It's a hobby of mine, but with all this election fraud crap, it's hard to keep up! Seriously!

Have you taken any large doses of Niacin for any reason, such as cholesterol reduction? That can give you the red flush and the tingling and also elevate your liver enzymes, but it's usually harmless.

Also, think about allergies to foods or any other substances such as yeast that you might want to avoid.

Have you been eating?

Please let us know how it goes tomorrow! You have a lot of friends here!

60. Oh sorry, I missed the banana part.
Jaundiced=yellow of course.

Uh, do you have red hair normally or is this a recent development too?

The ultrasounds are painless. Do you know which liver enzymes are elevated? How's your bilirubin? That's the gallbladder one, if elevated.

My only other non-professional advice is to make sure you see a GI/Liver specialist (Heptologist) at some point, esp. if the usual docs seem stumped.

Are the whites of your eyes yellow too? That's usually the first sign of jaundice.

The liver has a remarkable ability to recover Andy. Up to 90% can be gone and come back. I hope they get to the bottom of this soon.

And don't take any Tylenol; it's toxic to the liver!

For the itching, I don't know if it will help, but it helps the itching of something like chicken pox...put a bunch of baking soda in a cool bath and soak in it.

65. Dear Sweet Andy...
I don't know you, but I hear the fear and concern in your voice... I hope you don't think I am getting too personal, and I don't know your belief system, but I want to extend a comforting hand and gentle thoughts your way. There have been many nights when I have laid awake worrying about many, many serious things going on in my life, and the only thing (other than lots of hugs that I am sending your way!) is reading some scriptures.

Deuteronomy 1:6,9 "Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them (at it-your illness, in your case, Andy) for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you..... And the Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear, or be dismayed."

You have said you cannot sleep; maybe these verses will help give you some calm in your situation, and peace about tonight:

Psalm 3:3-5 "But Thou, O Lord, art a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head. I was crying to the Lord with my voice, and He answered me from His holy mountain. I lay down and slept; I awoke for the Lord sustains me.

Psalm 4:3-5, 8 "...The Lord hears when I call to Him. Tremble, and do not sin; meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still.... trust in the Lord. ....In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for Thou alone, O Lord, dost make me to dwell in safety."

Andy, may I say a prayer for you? Since I am not there with you, please know that as you read this, I will also be praying for you. Lord, please be with Andy tonight. He is feeling awfully alone and needs to feel the comfort of Your loving embrace. Please remind him of all those of us here who are sending him love and comfort. Please reassure him of Your perfect love for him. Let him know that you are holding him close, and know all his fears before he can even speak them. Lord we know that you count each of our tears and keep them all in a bottle. Remind Andy that you have a plan for his life, and that all your plans for us are for our ultimate good. You will never leave us or forsake us. Please soothe Andy's discomfort, and heal his body. Father please send angels to surround Andy and to protect him. He is so anxious about his condition and the tests tomorrow and speaking with his Doctor. Ease his mind and take away his fears. I pray for healing for Andy, throughout his entire body. Please guide his Doctors and their staff and help them determine the cause of his condition quickly, to speed his recovery. Father, I ask that you stand with Andy tomorrow as he goes to his appointments, and bring to his mind the questions he needs to ask his Doctors, and help him to remember their discussions, so he will know what to do. Right now though Lord, please hold Andy close to you. Please give him supernatural hugs, and comfort and reassure him of Your presence. Give him a deliberate peace about his situation, and soothe his spirit. I ask that you give him a complete night's sleep, and that he wake feeling rested and uplifted. Give him a clearness of thought tomorrow, and a certainty that you are walking with him all day tomorrow. Guide his steps and show him how much You love him. I ask all these things in Jesus' name, Amen.

I hope that gives you some comfort, Andy. Please know that I will be praying for you tonight and tomorrow. Again, I hope I haven't offended you by sharing these things with you. My only aim was to help you and soothe your fears. Please let me know how it goes for you tomorrow... Sweet dreams and BIG hugs!

rub it all around your liver area....your whole midsection, in fact, and wrap yourself in flannel (a t-shirt will do if flannel isn't available).

Castor oil is a great anti-inflammatory, and it draws out toxins. Those old country folk knew a lot about what works...and this is one thing that works well. It might even help stop some of the itching.

Sending you a ((((((BIG HUG)))))), and please ask the doctor tomorrow if there isn't SOMETHING you can take to help you relax and get some sleep.

90. In the Dark of the Night,
the waiting is the worst. So many of your DU friends are holding you in their loving arms tonight and have given you some good ideas to calm your anxiety. In addition to prayer and regulating your breathing, I've found that music is a wonderful distraction. Listening to the artists you love, or singing some of your favorite songs. Amazingly, singing the songs you liked as a young child can be very comforting. Or if you've committed poems to memory, reciting them can help...must be the rhythm, or the repetition. Visualization is another great tool. Visualize yourself in your personal version of paradise, doing what you love.

I hope that tomorrow will bring you answers, and they can do something for your discomfort...itching is dreadful. Take care and pleasant dreams. We're with you, Andy.

I am now a big believer in asking people to either pray for you or hold you in their thoughts... and look at how many people are thinking about you tonight!
Also, vividly imagine a scenario in which your doctor comes into the exam room, with a big smile, holding your chart, and saying "Great news! It's just ...." (pick whichever noncritical condition you'd like to have--gallstones would be my own choice). Play that scene in your head every time you get anxious. Really get into the details--what are you wearing, what is he wearing, is the room warm or chilly, what does it smell like... make it absolutely real in your mind, and plan it all out just the way you want it to be. Then all you have to do is wait for this scene to manifest. Believe in it, because this really works.

95. Andy, even while you are sleeping,
Angels are watching over you, holding you in their arms and comforting you with their warmth, blessing you with their prayers.

All across the nation people are holding you in their love, sending paryers and positive thoughts for you.

You are loved and supported beyond your wildest imagination.

Somewhere, deep inside yourself, some part of you knows that no matter what happens, you are okay. You will be okay. Everything is all right, there is a place of peace within you where everything is in perfect order, where you can find the peace and the strength you need to deal with whatever is presented to you. I know and honor that place in you. Find it, and you can trust it.

Sleep well, dear child, the angels are with you tonight.

96. Natural remedies for liver problems:
Milk thistle and SAM-e. Ask about them in the health food stores, provided your doctor has no objection. SAM-e has had some solid clinicals and been found to reverse liver damage. It's amazing how many medical doctors are not aware that liver damage is reversible in many cases.

Please take care, and I hope that things will be okay.

I'm an editor of a nutrition trade journal, not a doctor. I don't know about the valium. Try some deep breathing exercises and visualization tehcniques--imagine yourself on a South Seas island someplace, basking in the sun, etc.

Andy, I also feel that L-Methionine (TWIN LABS) 500mg 3x day would help you enormously.

I was Chief of Nutritional Research at UPenn for many years until I found out that I had widely disseminated cancer. My liver was in very bad shape as well. It was at this time that I visited a ND and he told me to take this. I was reluctant, at first, as there was nothing in the medical literature to support his claims. However, I did comply as it was not know to have any side effects.

I was stunned to discover after taking the above for only 3 weeks that my liver was completely restored to normal. That was over 7 years ago!

I have since suggested L-Methionine to others (with Hep A and C) and they too have had their liver enzymes return to normal, sometimes after having been high for years!! In each of those cases, the effect occurred in less than a month.

Also, it may take the Docs some time to come up with a diagnosis given that they have already ruled out all of the above. Please, know that we are all praying for you!!

116. I'm glad you recovered. That's quite a story.
The more I learn about "alternative" medicine, the more I realize how much Western medical doctors really don't know. Interestingly, WHO (World Health Organisation) has called for more traditional medical systems to be used worldwide, since Western medicine is now known to be expensive and cause as many problems as it solves, in many cases.

It only makes it worse. Been there, done that.

Some how, some way, try to settle your thoughts. The doctors and nurses will take excellent care of you.

103. Andy, I just added you to our prayer chain through our church
Don't worry, it's a very liberal Presby. church - not fundie in the least. :) It means that you have 32 people praying for you from Delaware - all praying for your strength, peace of mind, and healing. I hope that thought comforts you some. Add that to all these DUer's and you should have some pretty powerful juju on your side.

Also, I *KNOW* prayer works when you open your heart. I think opening yourself up and throwing yourself into the belief is the key. God doesn't care what your background is, just that you're open to belief. I have always truly trusted that the spark that makes us who we are, never ever dies. I felt this way when growing up, before finding a church -- my whole life. I hope this helps to comfort you and ease your worries some.

104. About that itching, calm down!
Have you read about the weird skin disease that has hit Florida and California? It feels like bugs crawling all over your body, and makes these little sores. It is a bug of some kind.

Take the valium, and get some sleep. It won't hurt. It'll probably help. Just don't start taking them all day long every day, that's when there's trouble....

Have they told you which hepatitis it is?

105. Butch up pal! :)
But seriously, I have been through a few health scares like you are going through right now.
The waiting is the worst part, and let me tell you this, absolutely the WORST thing you can do, even though I do it all the time, is to go on the internet and read about all the possible things it could be.
It can drive you insane.
Think seriously about trying Xanax or something, hey, Jeb's daughter can't be wrong!
The worrying and all the chemical reactions it causes is NOT good for you.
So there is a reason to try to be calm and stuff.
Buddy, I wish we could all be there with you and for you as you go through this.
Take care.

107. Hugs and Prayers
The unknown is always more fearful than the known.
There are several self-limiting diseases/illnesses that it could be.
Could be Lyme Disease, mononucleosis, could be drug reaction from Tylenol or any other over-the-counter medication. Could be a gallstone blocking a duct.
Without any previous symptoms...we'll pray for something very benign and send good thoughts.
I am a nurse and if you need any reassurances...pm me and I'll be glad to talk to you and help you find the resources to put your fears to rest.
Hugsss and try to think positive and put your worries away at least for now.

108. From the other side---kinda
Andy,
I've read a lot of posts on DU over the last little bit. Posting this will probably get me banned. If so I guess that's ok. After all, I hadn't ever decided to post anything till I read this. I figured why bother, since I would probably only get banned anyway.

I find that truth is usually somewhere away from where people scream the loudest, so I probably don't fit in here any better than I would fit with the freepers. Don't know what that means.

Anyway, Just wanted to register, login, and tell you that we're pulling for you. Whatever it is. I might not always agree with everything that you've posted in the past, but I've enjoyed your posts and your point of view. Hang in there, if you need anything just drop a line.

109. ahhhh andy......
everytime we face something medically its terrifiying...

a few years ago i started getting black splotches all over my body..the doctor right away went nuts and said it was my liver...i was an actress ..so starving oneself was the norm...the dr sent me to the library and had me check out books on the liver...

well the starving stopped, and now i am a sweet old lady with a healed up liver...but the liver is the most forgiving organ we have...

its great that you are seeing the doctors and that you don't ignor what they tell you...this may not be all that reassuring but by gods devine intervention and the doctors..hopefully they will get to the bottom of it and get it corrected..

you have every reason to be nervous...but don't let that take over...or you won't be able to help yourself...
you have to keep as clear a mind as possible..to get better..nerves only make the situations worse...
stress is harmful...do some deep breathing ..

i love you sweetie...and i hate to see you under such duress...

hugs to you.. and a moms love to you...

wish i could hug you and make the wait a little easier.

from the "i can't help myself from being a mom" ..fly

110. Andy, anxiously awaiting for your results.
I certainly hope you got some sleep last night.
The not knowing is the worst, I know you can handle whatever comes your way.
I had to chuckle about your work left to do; when I was undergoing cancer treatment in 2002, my kids thought I was holding back on my prognosis. I told them no way in hell was I going anywhwere before I voted that sum'bitch out of office.

121. The thing to bear in mind
Andy, is that there has never been anyone on the face of the earth who God loves more than you. That's the way he is. If nobody else existed, he'd have suffered and died for a single one of his children. He has no favourites, since he loves each one of us infinitely. "We may turn away from him, but he cannot turn away from us, since he cannot turn away from his own self". We have him within us as long has we have that spark of love, which puts others before ourselves as you evidently do.
