Poll question: Who here is going to watch the State of the Union speech tonight?
I can't decide if I want to see it. I'd probably end up screaming shit at the top of my lungs - throw something across the room and eventually just turn it the hell off. will anyone in 2004 Election forum be watching to report what he says on here for those who can't stomach to listen to him?

3. TiVo
I'm gonna TiVo it for my husband but probably will not watch it. I can't stand the sound of that man's voice. If I *do* watch it at least we will be able to fast forward through all the disgusting standing ovations. I will also provide something soft to throw at the TV screen.

6. There is just no way I can take listening to the garbage he is
going to spit out. I know & realize that the State of The Union is supposed to be an important event in our lives. However, when it is totally filled with lies as the previous ones and the media doesn't even question any of it, it somehow becomes devalued to me; not a realistic event, somewhat equivalent to one of the reality shows.

Sitting this one out with some wine and I already have some programs on TiVo to watch.

7. I'll be busy banging my head against an oak plank wall.
It will hurt less than watching the smirkster. Then it will be back to the internets, working for election reform and election justice.

8. As I stated in an earlier poll today and on the KOEB thread,
I'm a glutton for punishment. I figure it's good for at least a couple of laughs and I like to have a point of reference when I start hearing all the spin.

I'll be doing a lot of this, though:

12. my feelings exactly
I wasn't going to watch it, but decided last minute tonight that I'd take a look... might be good for a laugh, and I guess I want to know how he's gonna spin things too... better to be armed for the battle, right?! Of course, I might end up walking away at some point anyway, but we'll see...

9. You gotta watch...
It's a chore, but you almost have to watch so that you can get out there and try to relate to some of these people out there trading their freedom, liberty, and money for so-called morality. Maybe they can be talked down from the ledge they're standing on.

What is more frightening is that those same people are probably the first to change the channel to Spongebob on NickToons in search of secret homosexual recruitment messages.

13. Of course you have to watch
You may find yourself cringing through every second, but you have to watch. You have to know what we're up against, and you can't let Bush's lies go unchallenged.

14. TVTorrents
You could waste precious bandwidth downloading it from TVTorrents, at least until July when the administration's FCC ends our right to record, manipulate, and disperse free over-the-air television.

18. i may listen on the radio (NPR Station) -- I haven't decided totally yet
I listened to all of the debates this way -- let me say that the "town meeting" one, where everyone said * did better... I think it was that he just "looked" better -- he still talked in circles and was not as coherent as Kerry.

20. Watch not exactly but I will have listen to him. Unfortunately, I think
is necessary to able to figure out what the next battle strategy should be. I'm sorry others don't feel the same way. Listening to chimpy has always been a chore, but when you don't do your chores the house falls down around you. I'm not in a very good mood about it either.:eyes:

28. I completely agree
While I dreaded it, and could barely contain myself for that hour, it was worth it just to hear the booing from the Dems when it came to *'s bald face lies about SS and where it stands. I don't ever remembering that happening before in a SOTU address. Has it?

And the Dems rarely stood to applaud. I don't remember that happening either, or maybe I'm projecting?

Except for the above, it was extremely hard to sit and listen to, but I did like the Dems response afterwards.

33. the vociferous boo's have never been so pronounced
As far as the ovations go. I was sickened to watch the Dem's stand up as much as they did at firs (more than I have ever seen) but there was a distinct pattern. They stood up for all the issues that THEY have been addressing. bush made an effort to say what Dem's want to hear. Unfortunately, we all know what bush says really doesn't mean a damn thing. He will continue on with his DELUSIONAL mandate and attempt to appease us with saying the words we want to hear. I'm sure he'll find a way to blame the Dem's for the failure to enact his "plans."

21. Ugh...it's better to know than not know, I guess.
I just promised my housemate I would TRY not to scream and throw things while I'm actually watching it. So I guess I'll have to restrain myself until I can get online after it's all over and turn cyberspace blue! I might need some padding for the walls, though.

29. I did watch it. Best part was the Dems booing ** during the part on
social security, *and* watching them just sit there when the Repugs were standing and clapping.

Regarding the Democratic response: Harry Reid was okay, but Nancy Pelosi made me go cross-eyed. It wasn't what she was saying, it was the delivery. She totally lost me... not a very dynamic speaker. (I found myself wishing it was Barbara Boxer or Stephanie Tubbs Jones speaking instead!)
