New name for our forum:Election Fraud Investigation & Reform
Some believe that our current forum should just be closed.

Others believe that the forum should be renamed Election Reform

I, for one, believe that our work with investigating what happened in the 2004 general election, in Ohio and elsewhere, is not done. Many people have done a lot of work to uncover criminal activity of Blackwell and others. We must continue the work of seeing that the truth of the 2004 elections is exposed, and the appropriate people are punished for their crimes against the American people, Democracy, & our Constitution.

8. That's what I wanted to begin with! 2004 Election Results and Discussion
was too generic. And while we're thinking about it, it would be nice if it were more of sourced forum, like LBN and Editorials, and less of a GD/Lounge style forum.

18. Taking the bull by the horns
I think we should be proactive in any decision about our forum before a decision is made for us. The entire purpose is to avoid 'amnesia' about Fraudgate '04, as if that were possible considering the passion with which has been expressed here.;)

13. I like this idea too. The only issue is the voting machines and the facts
need to be constantly refined and updated until the argument is overwhelming. Eventually, these companies will be taken to court. They will make some mistake, there will be a whistleblower, something will happen, and then all this data has to be ready and in an indexed, easily accessed form so that lawyers and politicos can use it and verify it easily.
\
There also needs to be a concerted effort to inform friendly politicians of the gross violations of law Diebold and the other companies have been guilty of, and the obvious fraud they have perpetrated (as indicated by exit polls again and again, besides the violations of certification, etc. Diebold has been caught doing). This is the only issue worth worrying about right now. Unless the voting gets rectified, nothing else will be possible. Once the voting is fair and democratic, the Dems will ride to victory in almost every election, and these issues can be debated and legislation crafted that can be acted on.

39. Agreed. Until we expose the criminal behavior that has occurred
we cannot expect to have fair outcomes in the future. There can be no reform until we expose the past.

14. I also think we need a current issues forum.
We all work so hard in this forum. Once we were given a task to email, call, or write, we acted!

I do hate to say this, but we now need to shift our powerful gears and work on "Current Democratic Issues" (or something similar). For instance, we need to speak our opinions on Social Security, Medicare, health care, education, environment.

More specifically, once an issue hits our so called MSM, we need to act. Social Security and Attorney general nominee Alberto Gonzales are two examples. We need to immediately and continually display our discussion and opinions on these subjects.

The one thing I have learned is that our voice is heard. Our voice is mentioned as "DU" thinks this, etc.

We are strong. We are the People of the United States.

17. Work has just begun. Here is my suggestion.
29. Conyers: "But I hasten to add that until we complete our investigation, .....

".... I don't know if it will change the result or if it won't change the result.

Why are so many at DU so unwilling to read what the Congressman has to say?

Why have so few recognized that the title of the report yesterday contained the word "STATUS" not "FINAL"?

In two months, a bunch of fiercely dedicated citizens forced an historical event in a Joint Session of Congress; delivered massive amounts of data, analysis, support (emails, faxes, phone calls) to Congressman Conyers and others, wrote brilliant and insightful studies, crafted and filed numerous legal briefs, ....... . All in 2 months; all extensively coordinated through the net; all achieved by people who, mostly, have never even met.

How can such an extraordinary confluence of actions and commitment be viewed in anything but an inspirational and motivational manner?

Just imagine what we can do in the next two months to support Congressman Conyers ONGOING INVESTIGATION; to support Arnebeck and Bonifaz; to begin assembling teams of experts to testify against any form of 'black box', unaccountable ballot format.

So, Will, and other DUers, should we petition to start a DU forum dedicated to what perhaps could be called "Conyers Election Investigation" and those supportive of it can focus on continuing to uncover the truth of the 2004 national election?

Peace.

It would seem the new forum would have a much more narrow and specific focus.
Old forum much more for disussion..new forum for fact finding and action.
Just my opinion.

23. Please petition the DU Administrators. Let's get this formalized and...
....moving.

Congressman Conyers, Mr Arnebeck, Mr Bonifaz & so many others need our network of experts and activists and I think we can bring many more to the endeavor if we have a clear mission and stay on target.

National Election 2004 is on the front burner and today Senator Boxer, Congressman Conyers and Tubbs-Jones and colleagues elevated the temperature, considerably.

We have much to do and, during the past 2 months, we've proven to each other and the 109th US Congress that "We The People.." have the will and skill to prevail.

Peace.

24. a possible reason to keep the same name
Since we now know that our democracy is dead until this situation has been remedied, perhaps we should freeze the name until then. The day day the music died?

It is almost a new ground zero because, now we really know where we stand with our Senators et al.

I fear for any congressinal investigation though. Who will be put in charge? Maybe they can just enlist the folks that did the exhaustive look into 9/11. (That's what I'm afraid of.)

33. Election Fraud Investigation & Reform -- Yes. And, it should persist...
....until 'We The People....' are convinced that every eligible citizen can vote in an equivalent manner and know, with certainty, that their vote was counted precisely as they intended.

And, until every potential crime committed against our fellow citizens in the 2004 national election is investigated, and when found to be real, prosecuted -- NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES.

Onward.

We will in_DEED prevail.

38. A suggested edit: 'Election reform and fraud investigations' accentuates the
POSITIVE. The "Help America Vote Act" needs to be amended to provide mandatory national standards for fairness, including all the recommendations in the final pages of the Conyers report at http://www.pdamerica.org . Your proposed title literally reads as if we want to REFORM FRAUD, not reform the HAVA, end "felon disfranchisement", enfranchise DC, etc.

41. Point taken!
The entire purpose of my thread was to:

a) allow US to make the decisions about the future of this forum

b) ensure that the investigation of fraud was supported by a forum here

c) that the relationships formed here, in this battle for all that is good, should have a home to come to for support in their efforts.

I am soooo open to a different name, I just want it to consider the needs and desires of all participants.
