Excerpt--

Senators should object to Ohio vote
January 4, 2005
BY JESSE JACKSON

This Thursday in Washington Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), the senior minority member of the House Judiciary Committee, will formally object to the counting of the Ohio electoral vote in the 2004 presidential election. If any senator joins him, the counting of the vote is suspended and the House and the Senate must convene separately to hear the objections filed, and to vote on whether to accept them.

The grounds for the objections are clear: The irregularities in the Ohio vote and vote count are widespread and blatant. If the Ohio election were held in the Ukraine, it would not have been certified by the international community. In Ohio, the gulf between exit polls and counted votes is vast and glaring. Blatant discrimination in the distribution of voting machines ensured long lines in inner-city and working-class precincts that favored John Kerry, while the exurban districts that favored President Bush had no similar problems.

Systematic efforts were made to suppress and challenge the new voters in Kerry precincts, whether students or African Americans. Some precincts were certified with more votes than the number registered; others were certified with preposterously low turnouts. Voting machines, produced by a company headed by a vowed Bush supporter, provide no paper record. Ohio's secretary of state, the inappropriately partisan head of the state's Bush campaign, has resisted any systematic recount of the ballots.

--snip--
If Harry Reid, the new leader of the Democratic minority in the Senate, has any sense, he will lead members of the caucus to support their colleagues from the House and demand a debate that will expose the irregularities in Ohio. If Kerry wants to establish his continued leadership, he will stand first to join with Conyers and demand a debate.

3. Great article, what is up with Jesse and Kerry?
If Kerry wants to establish his continued leadership, he will stand first to join with Conyers and demand a debate.

Ok, I know Jesse and Kerry have been in communication, and Jesse was an advisor to Kerry during the campaign. So, how is it that Jesse doesn't know that Kerry is supposed to be in Iraq like all the MSM is saying???

OK tinfoil hat time :tinfoilhat: maybe Kerry is saying he will be in Iraq just to throw RoveCo off the trail? Maybe he will be there on the 6th but going to Iraq shortly thereafter?

4. Yes, indeed. "if JK wants to establish his continued leadership"...
Is this intentional? If so, it is very troubling.

6. Good point, obvious disconnect there...
we know Kerry is headed for Iraq on a goodwill mission and could be gone already, so what's the meaning of this mystifying statement by Jackson?

I tend to be persuaded by the argument that Kerry's presence in DC on Jan 6 would lead to a media circus and would direct attention away from where it should be--on the congressional objection to the election process and support for a full investigation. So Kerry's not being there is disappointing but perhaps justified in light of the adversarial climate and delicacy of the situation?

It SEEMS that Jackson is saying that support for Kerry is on the line if he doesn't come through. And if he doesn't--if Kerry is not literally there Thursday, is Jackson challenging him to get further involved in the votergate issues at some level? If others in Congress back the objections, will it enhance Kerry's chances to make a difference in this?

Just pondering...any opinions?

7. I've been saying that all along. While it may be 'tin-foil,'
it would be very much like Kerry to use the element of surpise he used so well in military battle. And 'battles' ARE battles, no matter where they're fought.

While perhaps 'tin-foil,' it is NOT entirely improbable. And would certainly give others the courage and justification to stand-up as well.

9. Thanks!
Didn't want to draw more attention to that other bullshit post that claimed Jesse Jackson said Bush won it.

If I could search archives-I could post a post I posted the WEEKEND after the election, Jackson was the first politician to mention the election was bogus. That would be around November 6th.

10. Jesse is being exceptionally candid
and leaves no one 'safe'. The Minority Leader, the congressional Democrats and Kerry are being called out with stunning clarity.
