I don't think African Americans are informed about election fraud...
or are they? It feels like I am the only person that knows about this. I didn't experience voter intimidation, but I am glad Jesse is getting the word out. So many AA have moved on cause "Kerry conceded and caved in to Bush, so move on." It is kind of frustrating that the MSM is ignoring this and so many of us are so uninformed.

2. I agree. The ignorance seems to transcend
racial, ethnic, religious, gender, economic lines.

18. It is not necessarily ignorance - the media is virtually silent on this.
I just want to say that alot of Americans are not ignorant. They have to be informed otherwise how will they know...

3. AND Why is the NAACP so quiet? Where is Al Sharpton?
I agree with you and am grateful to Jesse but I cannot figure out why more African Americans and students are not screaming about the injustice. This was MASSIVE disenfranchisement and suppression- in Ohio, Florida and other states. I actually spoke with someone from the NAACP a month or so ago, just after Jesse had jumped on board. He and I were checking into a hotel at the same time and after I'd heard which group he was from, I asked him if he knew what had happened on election day. He said he'd heard "Something about it" but not much. Now we are 4 weeks later and they are still, for the most part, keeping quiet. I just don't get it.

4. Only people up to date are those who are attached at the hip to internet
ill bet african-americans who get their news from their computer know all about it. But remember, most american still trust CNN and the rest.

5. Right (sarcasm)
That's why they appear at the polls with their utility bill to verify their living address. Savvy they are, but expecting us to assist is where they are jaded.

utility bills were considered valid ID.

16. Not for white folk at the voting precinct
Probably with Jim Crow, never had it where I am, and have been voting since the mid-1970's.

I was paraphrasing an account of voter intimidation from Cleveland, in which an election challenger requested additional information from African Americans only, and the one reporting it, produced their utility bill to verify their address. They noted the challengers hostility and disappointment when it was produced. The tone suggested that this was SOP at the polling places for African Americans.

The action was inappropriate, probably illegal, and apparently been ongoing for several elections.

6. Well our government officials know or am I writing all of these letters
for nothing? Sometimes it feels as though they are not listening. I did however receive emails and postcards from the senator Bill Nelson and Graham. As for the African Americans, some know and are scared of repercussions and some just don't care.

7. Very white and very gray
It saddens me that most of the people I have seen at contest-the-election demonstrations are caucasion and older. But then again, we demonstrated in the 60's too. News suppression is de factor voter suppression. Jesse Jackson said this is the biggest issue since Selma; I agree.

9. 100% Correct. In my Government office - the population is
mostly African American - all were for Kerry. The interesting thing is they KNEW before the election that it would be rigged! That is why they are not screaming now. It is like they have given up - know there is nothing they can do to change it.

They, like EVERYONE else, needs a GREAT leader to emerge. One who speaks of truth and justice from the very core of their being. Then everyone will follow.

10. Could be a cultural thing, some cultures might like a leader, others
might not really care whether they have a leader to follow or not.

Al Gore really got into that "I'll fight for you!" spirit. Was that what endeared him to so many african-americans?

11. We've barely survived 2 months of disenfranchisement - imagine 400 years..
...some here (not me) have been awake election-wise for 4 years but still... 4 yrs vs. 400 yrs.

We'd probably give up hope after 10 years tops...

I guess had Kerry screamed louder and louder it would have woke up these people. :(

15. I Can't BuhLeeve PetroL said this. He should be disbarred!
"Many of these groups are hoping the Ohio Supreme Court will review the matter and rule in their favor. But Attorney General Jim Petro described the legal challenge as frivolous, saying a state court has no jurisdiction over a federal election." emphasis mine

Do they make you actually read the constitution in law school? This is Ohio State A.G. speaking here.

13. I don't think "average" Americans are informed about election fraud..
and a host of other issues. But, I too am thankful for Jackson, Conyers and the many others who have taken up this fight.

17. But they do know about the systematic suppression; someone send them this:
EIRS hotline reports document widespread touchscreen fraud in most swing states including Florida, Ohio, New Mexico where they thought there was no paper trail. This time there was.
(but other types of fraud and systematic suppression of minority voters have also been documented in this election)

(mostly default from Kerry to Bush but some other races also)(big EIRS paper trail of all systems)
