3. I'm on pins and needles watching the returns
I do hope we win.

Kerry will be very adept at using the bully pulpit for civil rights.

just look at freeperville...they think they have a divine right to their racism and that the pResident supports them. He sure sends them the signals they're looking for.

7. If you think that it hasn't always been racist, you're fooling yourself.
The WASP mentality has never died. Sad to say.

9. And sexist.
What is this moral values thing anyway? It's about abortion and gays and nothing else. Murdering other people while we invade their country I guess isn't immoral.

12. Whatever party most represented regression and racism and repression
has ALWAYS (and yes I'm sorry) represented the South. Lincoln, was of course, a Republican. Then Republicans were the party of the North and East. The Republican party of the past was an inclusive party (at least racially). You have probably heard of (to paraphrase) the quote from President Johnson who was so courageous in civil rites when he said "The Democrats have lost the South for 3 generations." (or something to that effect).

16. I think what he/she means
is that it's becoming far more overt and even acceptable again, whereas during the 70's, 80's, and most of the 90's, it wasn't.

17. Racism has always been one of the things that draws certain people Repub
It's not new and it never went away.

Maybe it's more ok to be racist now in public because of Bush, but it's always been there in that party.

22. No difference from here.
Look, when you have leaders, (boy kings), that use divisive social problems for political gain what do you expect?

We have not gotten better on this problem since the 80's.

23. It Always Has Been...
When I look at some ignorant wonder bread head white folks, I feel sick to my stomach. I feel so far out in left field, so juxtaposed from them all, and at the same time, ashamed I share the same color.

Racism is about maintaining a convenient reality in which they live in. When they share their displeasure with other people, it is like a whining baby who feels discomfort at the loss of privilege.
