William Pitt's words are very, very wise...
Edited on Tue Dec-28-04 02:24 AM by RaulVB
I have been repeating something similar constantly since I got here, but his words of course do carry a lot more of weight than my own.

You guys are very good people but way too emotional.

You put yourselves in a "roller coaster" artificially pretty much every day. It is kind of amazing and frustrating at the same time. Take a step back and think in the historical dimension of this crisis and the position that the criminals occupy today. Very powerful people that will end up going to jail soon. We need to get ready for that moment.

The resolution of this conflict will take the time that is required. Not a minute less than necessary.

And we will not succeed if we are not responsible, patient and calm while we are dealing with the fraud and its consequences.

Just my opinion...

2. I agree. We will continue to see setbacks, both minor and major...
We will persevere. As long as we remain true to seeking the Truth and we don't become our own enemy.
One step at a time. If there's a mis-step, it doesn't mean we trip and fall. Even if we fall, we must still get back up.
We are talking about the future of our country, and our children. I would like to see it start with Kerry, but if not, I'm not giving up!

3. The "historical dimension of this crisis" says to me
that this country is likely to collapse from without or from within.

Either way, people going to jail will be of little significance to the suffering of the masses.

4. Well, we will need to minimize it...
As much as we can.

We can all contribute to make the transition not too painful, however, we need to accept and understand the fact that it will be painful...

5. How do we do that?
For instance, how do we minimize a depression with massive hunger and homelessness?

6. "How?"...
Oh, gosh!

I don't have the perfect medicine or the answer for that question, but I will start for finding a decent man and then help him to get to his office in the White House.

John Kerry is that man and he will show his character and will deal with this crisis in the best possible way.

I'm convinced of it.

7. There is only one choice...
There has always been only one choice.

Today or tomorrow won't change that fact.

There is only choice.

And you know what it is.

8. Sure They Are...
He's god afterall!

He's so wise, he studies everything, he's so open-minded. He'd never insult anyone, he's not "emotional" like other people are.

11. Well Said RaulVB...
I too in my short time on DU, have been advocating patience and less literal response to every news item that comes down the pike.

I also believe we need to be more discerning, more self-critical and accepting to flaws, inaccuracies and messiahs bearing red herrings. I was disappointed when I first signed on, noticing the same kinda Freeper mentality I've seen before.

There is enough credible evidence of fraud in Ohio, but I've seen a fair amount discredited also. I've written a fair number of articles on Ohio, and I'm subject to the scrutiny and objection of Conservatives willing to debate out in the open. They can argue away exit polling and machine glitches, but they can't explain 3-4 hour lines in Black communities while 69 working voting booths sit in storage.

12. guess its hard to wait around while
democracy goes out the window. We waited last time and look what happened in 4 short years. guess liberals are scared to death right now of losing whats left of this country.

guess i can remember the 60's and Nixon and think wow that wasn't so bad! hell how can it be? We had free press brave reporters and investigative journalism. different times. we could trust that things would be Ok.

now we worry. worry that people who are investigating are ignored or turn up missing. or people who speak out are labeled nuts or conspiracy theorist. guess thats the difference. the press is not our friend right now.
