Exit polls in Ukraine FUNDED by US. Breaking News on Yahoo News!
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=544&u=/ap/20041210/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_ukraine_election&printer=1

Apparently, exit polls in the Ukraine funded by the US Govt and * are good enough to overturn an election, but exit polls funded by the supposed liberal media must be "biased" ha ha ha...

Truly amazing what kind of country we live in today

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration has spent more than $65 million in the past two years to aid political organizations in Ukraine, paying to bring opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko to meet U.S. leaders and helping to underwrite exit polls indicating he won last month's disputed runoff election

1. Thats what I've been saying
Well I said it once. The Ukraine situation is the exact opposite of the US situation. I think the protests were bought by the Bush administration or its lackeys. How else do explain the laser shows and rock bonds at the "spontaneous" demonstrations?
Lets all soak in the irony...

Wait until you hear who's funding the demonstrations and providing the tents to keep people in the cold.

5. Revolution is always orchestrated by power
No large people's movement has every existed. Who goes first without a well-funded or prominent leader to get things started and pull the strings?

11. But "power" can vary.
I'm not sure anybody orchestrated the Czech's "Velvet" revolution.

Doctors Say Ukraine's Yushchenko Was Poisoned
Dioxin Disfigures Opposition Leader's Face
By SUSANNA LOOF, AP

VIENNA, Austria (Dec. 11) - Dioxin poisoning caused the mysterious illness of Ukrainian presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko, a doctor said Saturday, adding that the poison could have been put in his soup.

Yushchcenko was in satisfactory condition and his dioxin levels have returned to normal, Dr. Michael Zimpfer, director of Vienna's private Rudolfinerhaus clinic, said at a news conference.

Ukrainian opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko suffered disfigurement from what doctors say was dioxin poisoning. The photo on the left was taken in 2002 and the photo on the right was taken in October.

"There is no doubt about the fact that Mr. Yushchenko's disease has been caused by a case of poisoning by dioxin," Zimpfer said.

The 50-year-old opposition leader first fell ill in September and was rushed to the Vienna hospital. He resumed campaigning later in the month but his mysterious illness had left his face pockmarked and ashen.<snip>

There's before and after Dioxin pics at the AOL link. The man was very handsome.

6. the Ukraine is the 4th country in the region where the US

has played "King maker"

I'm glad this is finally coming out on DU.

Serbia, Georgia, and Belarus all played out the same script.

"The operation - engineering democracy through the ballot box and civil disobedience - is now so slick that the methods have matured into a template for winning other people's elections."

A documenary on French television followed Serbian student advisors, payed $3000 / month to help the Ukrainian movement.

Yushchenko's American born wife, Kateryna Chumachenko, is a Chicago Business School grad and ex Reagan / Bush aide. And well known as a strong neo-liberal.

I've been living in France for many years and although I don't cherish the ex-Eastern block regimes, I feel that the US active remodeling the world in it's own image presents a greater danger to the world order.

Here are the links I've saved up.

14. Hi, BushSpeak. Query:
Belarus? Lukashenko? Link or reference?

I agree Serbia and Georgia followed the same script (and there's a fair amount of discussion about the Serbian/Yushchenko "nexus"). But Belarus has been pretty rock-solid Stalinist for a long time, and I'd be curious to hear what you have on it.

17. Bonjour, igil
I don't have any insider info on this. You'll have to Google it.

I found these links really fast, but they don't go underneath the surface.

The Kostunica trick for Belarus?
http://www.cpa.org.au/garchve3/1032bel.html

All I know is that they tried, but it didn't work in Belarus. 3 out of 4 ain't bad, but when you throw remodeling the Middle East and intervening in Venezuela, the new "Pax Americana" is stepping on a lot of people's toes.

It's one of those "If you can't make friends, install your own" sort of thing. In France, people are still smart enough to distinguish between the American people and Bush, but those 57 million following in his footsteps cast a big shadow.

If the stakes weren't so high, it would be amusing to look at the similarities between domestic and international policy. The "Neocons" are unbeatable when it comes to manipulating to get the power, but they haven't a clue what to do with it afterwards. All they know how to do is control and more control and make enemies in the process. Witness the elections and economic dead end in the States or the quagmire in Iraq.
