Remember that politics is the art of the possible. I notice that here on DU an inordinate number of people think that huge change is possible with the stroke of a pen. Any change is going to suffer from inertia. I still feel for Gough, who was forced into too much change too fast. This was caused by 23 years of conservative rule. Today we start rebuilding the "social capital". I look forward to the day when accountants can measure this most valuable commodity.

and felt happy that he's seen Labor returned. He's 90 now, and in a wheelchair, but I'm so glad that he's still around to see such a decisive victory by Rudd & Labor.
