Howard's blackshirts at it again
Maxine McKew is getting death threats. From an ABC article:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200703/s1862014.htm

New South Wales police are investigating reports of death threats against the federal Labor Party's star recruit, former ABC journalist Maxine McKew.

Four men were reportedly seen under Ms McKew's car at her Mosman home in Sydney's north earlier this week.

A police spokeswoman says only that police are investigating a matter to do with Ms McKew and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) are also aware of some incidents.

The New South Wales Police Minister, John Watkins, confirmed the AFP are also involved in the investigation.

And this is a sole incident. According the Green's 2004 Bennelong challenger, Andrew Wilkie, he too was the victim of threats back in 04:

http://au.news.yahoo.com/070302/2/12m14.html

A former federal election candidate in Prime Minister John Howard's home seat has revealed he, like star Labor recruit Maxine McKew, received death threats during the last federal election.

Former intelligence analyst Andrew Wilkie, who was the Greens candidate for Bennelong in 2004, said there were strong similarities between his campaign experiences and reports of the intimidation of former ABC presenter McKew...

The former spy said he didn't go public about the intimidation at the time for fear of appearing to have sour grapes about his political defeat....

"Now I see it being done to someone else I feel I have a responsibility to let people know there's a pattern here."

"When people stand against John Howard there are some people in the community who react in a threatening and unsettling way."

Of course, Howard probably doesn't know about this stuff, for plausible deniability reasons. However I'd bet my life that a senior member of his staff is connected to this shit.

I wonder if this story will get any major coverage, like the bogus six degrees of seperation stuff that is being held against Rudd at the moment.

1. It would not even make sense for a person in that position to
be anywhere near involved.
It's the same kind of nutcase that killed the tree of knowledge.
Right wing idiots don't need much to pull on their white robes
and light up a few crosses.
The question will be how JH denounces it.
He should make a big gesture so the faceless ones can see he
detests them.
We'll see.

2. Is Andrew Wilkie going to be running again?
I like the man, but I hope not. I just don't want the anti-Howard vote to be split between the two.

Oh, how I would love to see Howard loose his seat.

3. No, he's not running again.
He also got death threats when he opposed John Howard.

He said yesterday that he doesn't blame Howard of course, but somehow
the man just seems to bring the nutters out of the closet.
