1. I believe it is one of Conrad Black's papers...
...so, yes, it's a right-wing rag.:puke:

9. He has now been forced to sell it
to the Barclay brothers, a pair of rather reclusive brothers who live in the Channel Islands. They don't have Black's towering ego, so don't interfere in the editorial policy the way Black did, but it's still right wing - that's its market, and has been for 100 years.

3. Is it right-wing???
They're probably the 2nd most right-wing paper in Britain. Only the Daily Mail is more frothing at the mouth right-wing nuts

5. Where does
The Sun (a.k.a. Pravda) fit in? I've always thought it was like the Hate-Mail, but trashier...

7. The Sun...
Only talks about politics when a celebrity is involved.

Besides, can you really call The Sun a newspaper? I've always thought of it as a comic along the same lines as The Beano.

13. The Sun is one of the most insidiously
racist, sexist and homophobic rags in Britain. It exists to promote the very worst human tendencies...

6. Commonly called the Torygraph
It doesn't even make a pretence at being anything other than right-wing. I believe it endorsed Dubya back in November.

8. Yes, definitely right-wing
The most right-wing of the broadsheets, though perhaps less so than the Daily Hate and other tabloids. They used to have pretty good news reporting, if you skipped the disgusting editorials; but their reporting is also becoming increasingly biased IMO.

10. If you want bad reporting,
Edited on Mon Mar-07-05 12:25 PM by Thankfully_in_Britai
then read The Times. For a broadsheet the reporting in The Times is pretty dire I find.

The Telegraph, despite being a RW rag does have plenty of good stories I find, although not so much on the comment pages (although I'd still rather read Boris than most of the Times commentators).

11. Yes, it's a dirt rag
Most of the major circulated 'news'papers in the UK are right-wing.

15. UK national newspapers' alignments are approximately this...
Right Wing: Telegraph, Daily Mail, The Sun, The Express, The Times, News of the World, The People

Left Wing: The Guardian, Daily Mirror

Non-aligned: The Independent (has a mix of socialists, liberals and conservatives who write editorials)

16. The Independents reporting...
in my experience does tend to be left of centre. Just look at the cover stories for starters!

Andwe should not forget the likes of the Times, the Evening Standard and the FT which are right of centre but support Blair.

17. Shameless plug for the Demopedia page
on the English national newspapers. If anyone feels like extending it to the Scottish papers, so that it lives up to the 'British' title, please do. And it's got the classic joke definitions at the end :-)

18. I love the final sentence regarding 'The Sun'
"Its only redeeming feature is a talent for puns in its headlines."

They can be wicked, but wickedly funny too.
