When half your family is vegetarian, it doesn't take the turkey long to thaw. ;)

No muss no fuss this year. A turkey yes, gravy and stuffing and potatoes and assorted other lard and starch no. Too many fractious people (only about 10, actually ... just extra fractious), too many bad experiences around turkeys in the past. A weekend in the eastern Ontario countryside, and perhaps take the turkey and chile sans carne out for a picnic - ew, I just realized, at the bird sanctuary, how awful.

Of course, there will still be the traditional Puke Salad. That might be more what our unenlightened USAmerican brethren and sistren are looking for. I'll be happy to share the recipe. It involves lemon jelly (aspartame variety now), cottage cheese, mayonnaise, radishes, celery, green onions and canned pineapple. Handed down from my grandmother, who undoubtedly got it out of a Kraft ad.
