Came to a realization about the possible election today.
It was a strange realization. Whenever you hear people say "Canadians don't want this," or "Canadians want that," I don't ever see it applying to me. However, today that changed when I realized I don't want an election. A few weeks ago I said we should, just to get this all over with.
However, I want the Gomery inquiry to be over and official, because I am and undecided voter.
I voted for an independent last time (Yes Spazito I voted Schuster) but have since moved ridings. Usually I would have voted Liberal in this situation, but it looks like I may be voting NDPor even Green. Not because I neccesarily agree with all of the NDPs policies, but because after what I've so far heard at the Gomery inquiry, it's hard to imagine voting Liberal. It's like a reflex, I just don't know if I can do it.
So, for MY sake the Cons should lay the fuck off and let Canadians hear the WHOLE story, so they can make an informed opinion. Anything else is an insult to our democracy.

1. I remember during the last election, we did have a discussion
on the independent candidate and I had to admit I knew little, to my shame. If Harper forces us into another election, I will vote NDP again because we came VERY close to ousting our faux Con, we might be able to do it this time!

I feel exactly the same way about the Provincial election as you do the Federal. A pox on both the Liberal and NDP candidate in my riding so am looking at voting Green for the first time in my life. If the NDP had nominated anyone but the throwback to the previous NDP government, I would have voted NDP, sadly I cannot given the current candidate.

2. One election with questionable candidates is enough
I don't think I could handle a Federal election right now. I can't stand Heddy Fry.

6. She was mine once, too.
And a good friend campaigned for her. A lot of tongue-biting on my part.

4. Canadians hate the Cons. Cons are the kiss of death in England too.
If Harper keeps pushing for an election.. he will show himself to be the opportunist he claims not to be.

As soon as this issue came up, David Frum was all over it and how Canada had to have an election 'not based on health care' but on the Gomery inquiry or fear of American take-over or anything other than the basic empathy and present structure of the country we have built based on huge resources and the wealth that comes with that.

That tells us exactly what the Liberals & the NDP need to do to win the election. Frum was 'broadcasting' the neocon fear in Canada. That we love our social programs and the decent, decent cities we create so much.. that Harper will not get elected unless they can make the issue something 'other' than the domestic agenda.

Thanks for the 'heads up' Frum! Since we know that Canada will not be starting wars anytime soon, and most of us are resigned to the fact that we really cannot avoid becoming more of a block with the USA, we will keep winning elections as long as we do not get sucked into any other type of battle or fear.

Health care it is!!
