Does this look like (BC Premier) Campbell to you?
Guess what's on sale at Wal-Mart (!) -- a T-shirt that appears to show Campbell's mugshot (from when he was stopped for impaired driving in Hawaii).

1. yeah kind of
It's a little strange. You can get his mug shot on t-shirts, mugs, w/e if you really want to. This shirt really doesn't seem to be political so it's a little random.

2. I guess they just picked the photo because it looked sleazy?
I've seen various renditions of the mug-shot mug (and T-shirt), but those were deliberately done to poke fun at Campbell. And they weren't the kind of thing that turned up at Wal-Mart. I suppose that the Wal-Mart people (even the ones in BC) didn't notice this -- or I suspect they would have taken it off the shelf.

Whatever the case, there's been a run on sales -- I think someone posted it at Rabble.ca, because word has really been getting around.

3. Yes, it does
but, the bottom line, imo, is his image as portrayed is accurate in that he has a mug-shot that was taken because he broke the law. There is no question that his DUI will be part of the upcoming election whether it portrayed on some T-shirt or not.

4. And I thought Svend's political life was over
Svend was dead as a doornail for stealing, then immediately returning a ring.

Campbell's crime could have endangered people's lives.

And it MIGHT be a factor in his election?

What's wrong with this picture?

5. You think so?
Only a few weeks left, and I've heard no mention about it from any party.

I'm no campaign expert, but I don't think there's much point in any candidate bringing it up. I'd venture that a large majority of BC voters have long-ago decided how much they'll let Campbell's DUI influence their vote; for his opponents to bring it up, I don't think it would sway too many. Might even backfire to some degree, who knows?

6. It seems to be showing up now in some ridings
B.C. premier's mug shot popping up in election campaign

VANCOUVER - Hundreds of posters featuring B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell's mug shot from Hawaii are showing up in two ridings on Vancouver's Westside.

The poster includes the line: "Voting for Convicted Criminals May Be Hazardous to Your Health."

Another poster has a picture of Campbell with the words "Convicted Criminal" stamped across his forehead.

Campbell, first elected in 2001, is seeking a second term in office in a provincial election that is set for May 17, 2005.

7. Yeah, I heard about that today.
I'd still be surprised if one of the candidates brought it up, though.

(I'm assuming that the anonymous handbill-poster has no ties to any political party.)

8. Oh, I suspect it does, third hand, at least

and it will come up at forums during public questions I have no doubt and it won't be asked by Liberal supporters, of that I am sure as well.

I don't think it is a real issue but since when has that stopped questions and posters from happening, lol.
