RCMP follow up on NDP complaint over tapes
OTTAWA — The RCMP interviewed Jack Layton's chief of staff and other NDP aides this week in response to the party's complaint that Conservatives secretly recorded one of their private caucus meetings last fall.

Two Mounties visited NDP headquarters in Ottawa on Monday to interview employees, including chief of staff Anne McGrath, who had written to RCMP commissioner William Elliott requesting an investigation.

A party official said the officers were interested in factual information such as when NDP MPs were sent an invitation to the meeting, which was held by conference call, and how frequent it is for MPs to gather by phone rather than in person.

The NDP official said the police did not say whether the RCMP had decided to launch a formal investigation into the matter.

Interesting, though I don't expect the RCMP to do more than some perfunctory investigating, followed by the legal equivalent of a shrug.
