What can the GG do now?

One of the telecasts were saying she won't just let the coalition proceed, because the momentum of the last election showed increased support for the Con/Reform party.

I can't believe anyone wants another election........what other options does she have?

I guess what I'm really asking is, how will Harper weasel his way out of this?

1. No choice...
...the GG has to play this one straight; she knows another election will skew things even worse. There is a historical precedent for this, there hasn't been a complete session of parliament held, so she's got no choice but to throw it open to Parliament. Harper is an absolute idiot...for purely partisan reasons he backed the opposition into a corner where they could actually threaten him. The Harpercrites have already back-tracked away from virtually all of their positions, but it's too late....the opposition know they've got him by the throat and they're not going to let him go now.

2. TY

That's not what the Cons. MP was saying on cbc.......he made it seem like she had no choice but to respect Harper's wishes. (based on whatever he decides)

4. The GG ranks above the PM.
She doesn't take orders from him. Only person above the GG is the Queen.

3. Tories actually lost votes.
And Harper has lost the confidence of the House.

So she has little choice here.

It's too soon for an election.
