As I was saying, Dion will lead the coalition.
Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion will be prime minister of an unprecedented coalition government if Parliament defeats the Conservatives next week.

Liberal MPs announced the decision after a caucus meeting to review plans for the coalition, which reportedly include a pledge to pump billions of dollars into the economy

-snip -

"We've decided that the only person and the best person to lead and form a coalition government is the elected leader of our party ... Stéphane Dion," said leadership hopeful Dominic LeBlanc.

"We are comfortable with that, we support that and we think that's right."

1. I'm not sure how I feel about this
Don't get me wrong, I like Dion. I just don't know how stable it will be having him head the coalition considering he's on the outs.

2. Well, since he put the deal together
and brought the coalition this far, I'd say he's quite capable of keeping it stable.

4. There are lots of unanswered questions though
Will he stay on as leader? If he does, will that cause more Liberal infighting? If he steps down after the leadership convention, what if the NDP decide that they want a chance at the helm? These questions are at the source of my concerns.

3. agreed

Also, the optics of it......the haters will use the "he-didn't-win-so-he-steals" the job.

But I'm not sure we have any choice. There needs to be a provision in the coalition that allows for, not 1 Prime, but several leaders, in the spirit of working together.

7. it's called democracy
the haters will use the "he-didn't-win-so-he-steals" the job.

These idiots need to understand how their own country works. Do these people think they actually voted on a ballot showing Stephen Harper running for Prime Minister?

They did not. They voted for their party of choice by voting for a Member of Parliament. MPs were elected and are sitting in Parliament. No votes have been changed. No MP have been recalled. No election has been overturned.

These morans are hoping the US-style of debate works here -- continually repeat utter bullshit, expecting it to magically transform into truth.

8. Sadly, you're right

Just got my return call from my conservative MP and that is exactly what he is spewing now. How undemocratic it is.
