Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistan's Pervez Musharraf agreed this week to work together to purge the scourge of terrorists that rest comfortably in the hinterlands that separate their countries.
That's good news for Canadian soldiers who are currently engaging in battle against a well-provisioned insurgent force made up of Taliban and Arab militias, largely supported from inside Pakistan.
At the same time, in what would appear an effort to placate hardliners within his own military, Musharraf vowed that no foreign troops would ever be allowed to cross into Pakistan.
That too is good news for Canadians and other NATO forces who might eventually have been forced into a vicious offensive in very hostile terrain. But it's good news only if Musharraf and Karzai keep their word to do the job themselves.
