(Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't we the ones who broke off talks out of frustration last year?)

CBC News

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says he has received a commitment from U.S. President George W. Bush to resume talks on the softwood lumber dispute.

"The president has expressed his desire to see a resolution. I certainly accept at face value the president's commitment to that," said Harper, following a meeting with Bush on Thursday in Mexico.

"If we don't see a resolution, Canada is certainly going to continue to pursue all its legal options as well as provide financial support for its industry."

Harper said he is instructing Canadian officials to look for options for a resolution with the United States on the issue.

Bush greeted Harper by saying "Hola" – Spanish for "Hello" –. Harper then rode alongside the president in the back of his car and in Bush's private helicopter for a two-hour round trip to the ancient Mayan archeological ruins at Chichen Itza.

The whole thing is crap. The puppy dog isn't even a poodle.

The contract states the terms and the means of resolving the disagreements. Talks are only ways of shaving down the definitions and setting precedents for future litigations.

In a word it is all BS.

The Liberals had a plan and some feared it would not fly in the face of an election. So guess what we will have now!

4. 'Steely Resolve'?
Oh shit, Harper is going to cave on softwood from the looks of it. Someone should start an online 'sports poll' and the winner is the one closest to the amount Canada will lose from Harper's deal. I am guessing that Canada will not get a dime and the new agreement will be mostly what the Americans have wanted along; 'harmonization'.

3. Geez, what's to talk about? Just give back the 5 billion owed to
Canada and adhere to the rules in the agreement signed. Harper looks so out of place in the pics, like an overindulged little boy pretending to be one of the big boys, lol.
