I'm coming to visit Wyoming
and do a little backpacking in the Cloud Peak Wilderness area (Bighorn Mts.) in a couple of weeks.

Would it be wise to peel all the anti Bush and anti Limbaugh bumper stickers off my car first?

1. Re:
Naw, most people in this area don't like Bush just like everybody else in America. But I guess there is a very real possibility that your car may come home with several foot-shaped dents in it, since the remaining supporters are very strong in their beliefs. Like my mom, who voted for him in 04 because he "looked better in a cowboy hat". No bullshit.

But you should be fine. If anybody asks you about it, just yell "Fuck Greenies!" and then quietly sneak away while they cheer in agreement.

2. It's a hybrid so they'll probably kick it anyway
just for spite.

I called the USFS office in Buffalo the other day and I may get out that way before memorial day weekend starts.

My Ma always said George Bush senior looked like a weasel, so sometimes that appearance thing is accurate.

4. Greenies
See what I mean? Nobody, at least in SE Wyoming, likes Greenies. Saying that is a sure fire way to get everybody in ear shot to cheer in agreement.

It's why I got a Piss on Greenies sticker on my truck. I don't even have to say it anymore, I just have to pull into the parkinglot to have everybody cheer in agreement with me...

6. it's not quite such a sure thing in NW and N Central Wyoming, though
I mean, sure, there are plenty of folks who hate greenies, but there are also a lot of greenies living in the shadow of those mountains. :) Tourism being one of the main industries up there, they're forced to be a little more tolerant, I guess :D

7. I kind of didn't think so..but it's like a religion here...
Yeah..that's one of the main problems here though. Every 3 day weekend Cheyenne becomes a temporary metropolis(?) as every greenie from Denver comes up here to "get away from the crowd". I swear every 4th of July the entire city of Denver comes up here and kicks us out. We've got no place to camp because they got there first because they left early, like on Thursday, to beat the crowds, and we had to work clear through Friday. And our stores are crowded and they drink our beer and they shoot our deer..and they can't drive. Highway accidents go up by 50% on such 3-day weekends cause of all the Coloradan drivers. If you enjoy facts, you've probably already researched that and found it's not true. But Colbert tells us not to trust facts, and go with our gut. And my gut tells me it's true.

Ok..so I guess that's kind of off topic. What I'm really trying to say is, thanks for welcoming me to the board a few posts ago Fishwax!

8. Thought CO was phasing out the green plates.
I have been stopping by the Leigh Creek campground and camping overnight there while coming and going from other parts west for about 15 years. However, the Bighorn area to the north is the focus of my annual "walkabout" this year.

I plan on being more touristy this year and plan on stopping at Devils Tower on the way out. Been driving by the sign for years and it's on my travel stops for this year.
