WI wants 19 year old - who enlist - to be able to drink
they can only drink in bars, they can't buy at a liquor store. They even came right out and said it is to up enlistment. SICK, SICK, SICK!

Drinking age may be lowered to 19 for military personnel

State Rep. Mark Pettis, R-Hertel, who introduced the bill, said he thinks it’s “unconscionable” that young men and women who serve in the military are asked to make life-and-death decisions on a regular basis, yet can’t legally drink in a tavern in their home state.

At this point, when we KNOW that this war is based on lies and greed, those that don't enlist seem to have a higher maturity rate. At least those that don't enlist because they know the truth - I am disgusted by the young adult war hawks that think this war is great but don't enlist and the war hawk parents that don't pressure their kids to enlist.

2. Lovely logic.
Let's get our kids drunk so they'll more willingly go to war?

5. Nope, the battle cry in the military is that if you are old enough to die,
you are old enough to drink. That sentiment has be around for a long time. Have to say I agree with it.

7. I'm not saying I disagree with it.
Setting age limits for driving, voting, enlisting and drinking has always been an odd prospect to me. I think it sets up the false notion that every individual is ready at the permissible age. Weeds out the idea of unique developmental tracks.

I don't see why someone old enough to serve in uniform isn't old enough to drink. Just weird how the legislative wrangling gets done.

6. Isn't it unconscionable to ask any young person to die except to protect
his country which begs the question "does advancing a political agenda protect one's country if one's country is not under imminent threat/danger?"

8. Good idea, suspect reasoning
If a kid can go off and risk his life for his country, why shouldn't he or she be allowed to legally drink alcohol?

9. When I was that age,
I was very adamant that I should be able to drink, vote, and make contracts at age 18 because I was damned sure old enough to get my butt drafted at age 18........

There needs to be some consistancy here about the universal age of majority....I hate the idea that the tavern league will automatically inherit another couple of hundred thousand customers but there has to be some consistancy.
