Lee Sherman Dreyfuss... What's your opinion of him?

In any of his functions, Whether at UW-Madison, UWSP, the Governor's Mansion, or in his retirement, what is your opinion of the man?

1. Red Vest.

Honestly, that's all I think of when I hear his name.

2. I met him

twice and debated him once......it was supposed to be a news conference but it turned into a debate... I have picture of it somewhere.....

He was a marvelous communicator (and still is) but he was a little "light" on substance.... He learned the Republican platitudes early and used them skillfully.....

He's a fun person to talk to but I'm not crazy about his politics...

3. Before he got sick

he wrote a weekly column for the local paper which is also online. I would say he is an old-school Republican unlike the neocons you see currently. I think he isn't too bad for a Republican, actually enjoyed and respected *some* of his columns.

4. I say this beacuse.

Hopefully, he'll be well enough to come around to UWSP next fall for the renaming of the University Center on campus. (It was supposed to be last week, but had to be postponed to to his illness.) He seems like a man I would like to sit down for an interview one of these days.

often runs a bio that someone put together with interviews and photos. Seems OK enough of a guy.
