APPLETON — Gasoline prices could reach all-time highs in a matter of days, a spokesman for AAA Wisconsin said Thursday.

“We are definitely heading that way,” said spokesman Michael Bie.

Statewide, the average for a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline on Thursday was $2.08. In the Fox Cities, most stations posted prices of $2.07, with additional increases expected by today. Bie said the all-time high in Wisconsin for regular unleaded is $2.13, set on June 2, 2004.

President Bush said Wednesday high gasoline and oil prices are legitimate concerns for Americans and the answer is a long-range energy plan that includes drilling in an Arctic wildlife refuge.
