UW-Madison Has anyone heard this???
about a man who collapsed and was found in a restroom on campus? I just received a call that a friend of mine has died - and that he had collapsed on campus. When I talked with my dad, he said that he had heard something about someone being found in a restroom.

Does anyone have details?

1. I don't know any details, but I'm sorry for your loss.
It's especially tough to lose someone so young.

2. Thank you for your kind response
and the amazing thing is that this 'young student' was about 70 years old! He was retired, but continued to attend classes in advanced math, because he tutored students at one of the local high schools. His brain seemed to work in logical, systematic ways that are totally foreign to my 'freestyling' sort of approach to a problem.

We met through our support for Wes Clark, and he and his wife of 42 years worked doggedly to try to remove bush from our White House. He and his wife were the most 'in love' couple you could ever imagine, and my heart just breaks when I think of what she is facing now.

I am in total shock.

3. He sounds like quite a terrific individual.
At least he went quickly, without suffering. So many older folks face long ordeals at the end.

5. thanks, ewag
he was amazing. Since posting last night, I have learned more about his death. He died in Van Vleck, the math building on campus. It's almost funny, because he and I have talked about that building - how he loved it so much because of all of the thinking and MATH that went on there, and when I was attending UW, I hated it for the very same reason.

If you want to read a little more about Paul, I posted a note here:
