here's the link:

I've read the synopsis and I think it's a fair budget. Doens't penalize the locals too much. He's laying off a lot of state employees though which troubles me a bit....maybe it's just through attrition....

funding the system at a level that allows regents to increase tuition between 5 percent and 7 percent each of the next two years.

How about some tuition caps, instead of raising administration salaries you fucking asshole?

I can't believe I supported this guy.

2. Not that I don't have sympathy, JC
but 5 and 7 percent is better than the 10 and 15 percent hikes I had to pay in the '90's. At least he's managed to bring the increases down some.

I totally agree, a tuition freeze would be nice. More support from the state would be better. College tuition had trended toward the unaffordable since Tommy Thompson started gutting the UW budget in the 80's. It would be nice to see it stabilize for a while.

3. I think he's making the best
of a bad situation. Unlike the federal government, states cannot be running ongoing budget deficits. Doyle is still cleaning up the mess left for him by Thompson. I'm happy to see the additional $850 million for public schools.
