Committee to review policies on photo ID, recall petitions
Madison -- A legislative committee will review a policy Tuesday that would allow colleges to put stickers on their identification cards so students could use them for voting.

A state law kicks in next year that requires people to show photo ID to vote. Student IDs can be used if they meet certain criteria, but few if any public and private colleges meet them.

State election officials this month ruled that universities could put stickers on their IDs that include information like expiration dates so they could be used for voting. Now, Republicans in the Legislature want to review that policy.

“Elections are supposed to be a true measure of the will of the people,” said a statement from Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald (R-Horicon). “The Legislature has a responsibility to make sure that ethics and elections laws are properly enforced and not misinterpreted.”

Fitzgerald and his brother, Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau), on Monday called for a hearing on the issue in a statement. The Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules will do so at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The committee will take testimony from Kevin Kennedy, director of the Government Accountability Board, which runs state elections and adopted the policy.

2. This is not a rocket science issue ..
A NEOCON RAT TURD hearing on the issue, GAB has to have their 2 cents worth and both of these spell trouble for the student voter ID. JUST DO IT ... MAKE IT HAPPEN, it’s pretty straight forward! Just put a sticker on their ID and stop being such jerks on this issue.

3. The GAB proposed using stickers
They are in favor of it as a way to get students past the voter ID requirement. They are on the right side in this one.
