Dear Wisconsin....
I'm currently in Wisconsin for business.

I went to the Rally this morning/afternoon in Madison. There are two things I will defend as truths to my grave:

(1) Wisconsin is a REALLY awesome state. Very friendly people, kind accepting atmosphere, and very active student body. It'd trully be an awesome place to live; maybe someday I'll make the move. You ALL should be proud to live here.

(2) The rally kicked ass. I somewhat expected Kerry to deliver a "bang" (like Bush's appeal to undecided democrats, which was actually a pretty sly move), and he didn't - but his message was coherent, motivational, and well delivered. HUGE crowd. There were probably 80,000+ people jammed between Kerry's stage and the Wisconsin state capitol.

I live in Georgia. But it felt SO good to be surrounded by such SANE and EDUCATED and ACTIVE citizens. Your state (much like Oregon), is a model for so many others.

Kindest...

PS - I'll NEVER make the mistake of asking what the difference between a Badger and a Beaver is. Sheesh... y'all take that stuff seriously.

1. Yes!
I was in Madison for my birthday/Vote For Change Tour a couple of weeks ago. Such a different environment than here in Phoenix. I can't wait to move back to Madison!

2. Thank you for the kind words
Madison was my home while I put my hubby through college and stayed in the area for 8 years. Now we live in the central part of the state but Madison will always be a special place for me.

You are welcome any time. You should consider vacationing here. Lots to see and do. And of course we Dems always appreciate the immigration of fellow liberals to the state.

Sorry about the badger/beaver thing. It doesn't help that it all gets tangled up with the Minnesota Gopher thing and the Michigan Wolverines. It's this whole history/sports amalgamation that sets some of us off. Fact is, there are very few badgers in the state. We got the name from lead miners who lived in lean-to type shacks they built over the entrance to their mines. Looked like they were crawling out of the ground like badgers when they left their homes. That was before we were even a state but for some reason the name stuck. Go figure.
