Forbes magazine "Top 10 cities where they're hiring" includes Madison, Milwaukee

Madison is #1 and Milwaukee is #5... what the hell? If you walk into the jobs center in Madison you'll wait at least an hour for the free use of a computer. The State of Wisconsin gets 500 applicants for 1 contract computer technician position. A couple thousand laid off workers from the GM plant in Janesville are looking for work in Madison. I'm about to start the lowest paying job I've ever had in my field. The homeless shelters here are overwhelmed and the food pantries have never seen more people.

Thanks, Forbes, for sending more people to compete for the few jobs here.

Even the "recession proof" medical industry - the nearest city's biggest employer - isn't hiring and hasn't posted more than half a dozen new non-medical professional jobs in the past year.

This economy really wasn't too hard to predict. If you've been looking to change jobs in the last couple of years (apparently outside of Milwaukee and Madison), you know it's been crap for a long time.
