1. It's not even Winter yet. You can't even let the Season-Elect get into office before you criticize

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of us have waited months for this, and we don't want to see it spoiled by you leftist malcontent curmudgeons.

No offense intended...it's just a blast to pick up prevailing thoughts from DU and drop them into new places!

2. Depends on where, I guess
Edited on Mon Dec-08-08 09:13 AM by WyoHiker
I know the SE has had a about a week of snow, but is that so unusual?

I work outdoors as a land surveyor in the SW and so far it has been "mild"; We haven't dipped below zero and it's already the second week in December! I haven't even needed to strap on the coveralls.

So, ah..., no. Not sick of it yet. (But, ask again 'bout SuperBowl Time.)

Apropo of nothing: Saturday Evening's sunset here was amazing. Wyo does have a couple of advantages.

RK

My Bad, Yeah... Winter in Wisconsin (Not Wyoming) probably sucks!!!

Once your kids are grown, you should move here to get away from all that snow and cold.

4. Not yet.
Although it did hit earlier this year.

I was so sick of seeing NO CHANGE, EVER. I'm so excited to see actual seasons. To know they exist!

Down south it's hot, hotter, hottest. One can only stand so much 104 degrees; guess it's kind of the reverse of here. You don't want to go outside then either, but there's more danger of frying your ass on hot leather than scraping your car out of an icy ditch. To each his own, I guess! :D

20 minutes of shoveling off the porch in preparation for snow blowing....

15 minutes of swearing at the snowblower to get it to start....

an hour of running the snowblower this morning....

then another 20 minutes shoveling the SECOND gift the snow plow left me...

Yeah....

I'd say Winter pretty much sucks....

our snowblower has a leaky fuel line and I'm working 15 hours a day right now so pretty much time shoveling is time away from getting a decent amount of sleep. I'm going to be 100% bitch by the time winter is over.

this morning...-7 degrees with a wind chill of -27 and guess what happened to that rain water under the weather stripping? You got it...I was out there at 6:45 with a scraper trying to break the ice loose so I could open the %$#^& garage door! :grr: :grr: :grr:

...And that was only the part between the sidewalk and the curb. The drift was about 4 feet high and 7 feet deep.

The plows will screw it up again tonight, but if I left it there, I'd have a full-on ice glacier to remove by tomorrow morning. It's supposed to drop near zero later.

I don't care if it's only 2pm. I'm having a beer...

25. My car is now about four blocks from here. Why?
I dug it out (it was actually simple to get out, strangely enough) but realized that there was nowhere nearby to park. The plow had come through once and dug a channel through the road, but neither the even side or the odd side (odd is correct for tonight) were passable. The only parking spot on my street was the one my car was occupying--and a plow would surely bury it overnight.

So, I went to a nearby through street that had been plowed and put my car there. (I don't park in spots that people painstakingly dig out for themselves, but this street was relatively clear, edge-to-edge.)

Tomorrow, I need to move it back before the next round overnight.

Grr.

You can ESCAPE, if you just keep running.

Once you get down to Florida, Wisconsin's going to have a
heat wave, all the snow up here will have melted by New
Year's Day... It'll be a mild winter, through January and
February, like we were so used to having -- until last year.

...NO, wait, I think I'm confusing your ESCAPE ATTEMPT, with

41. I'm still recuperating.
Edited on Wed Dec-24-08 11:45 PM by fudge stripe cookays
Monday morning, my beloved spouse had neglected to put more gas in the car, so he had a frozen fuel line (he's out of practice-- he was the one warning ME last year not to let it get under half a tank!)

Our problem? We have a single, one lane driveway, and the non-functional vehicle was in front. Of course. So I was going to have to drive the old man to work, but we had to get his car out of the way first!

The next hour was spent pushing the non-functional vehicle down to the street, then trying to push one direction, dig, push some more, aim, dig, push some more, aim and dig to at least get the damned thing parked in front of one of the neighbor's houses, and not blocking either our driveway or the street. Did I mention the driveway and our street are on a hill? Only a slight one on the street, but enough that one relatively strong 40 year old man and his 42 year old wife (with MS) were fighting to get the damned thing aimed.

I freaking dug my neighbors out TWICE this past week, but none of them were up yet. Instead we have people driving by gawking. But no one stopped. Fuckers. My pectoral muscles and thighs are STILL throbbing.

The best part? We had just gotten the stupid thing parked, and were preparing for the trip to reprehensor's job. Our Civic is a bit quirky in that the key won't come out of the ignition unless the steering wheel is turned the right way. So when I went to get the key out, I had to turn it a bit in the ignition as I turned the steering wheel. Freaking thing started right up. I began laughing hysterically.

Hate's a pretty strong word for winter, but I know by February I'm gonna be losing it.

Not so cold when I got up but a thin sheet of ice over everything. Treacherous to walk or drive.

I tried to chip it out of my driveway but broke one of the plastic shovels trying to do it....the steel coal shovel just slid right over the top.
