1.  Race is called with only 49% in - don't see a problem with that?
I hate what has happened to this country.

2. Not a problem.
I had CNN on and they waited until the polls closed to announce their projections. No undo influence on voting occurred.

4. I am watching local news IN Madison and the winner was called with 49% in

I think that IS a problem. I will NEVER trust an election result until we have transparent elections.

5. Statistical sampling
Exit polls.

As someone who has an engineering degree and statistical training, I can vouch that a small sample done correctly can be very powerful and quite accurate.

In Science I Trust.

6. The exit polls showed Kerry won by a considerably larger margin
than did the final tallies in 2004. In transparent elections I trust.

7. The exit polls predicted election wins for Gore AND Kerry
The lesson learned here? Exit polls are right. Bushco stole those elections in Florida and Ohio and cheated to make it closer in other places where they had inroads with Secretaries of State and Voting Maching Strongholds.

Trust the Exit Polling.

8. And it turns out they were right.

Obama wins 59-41.

Keep in mind they were just making a prediction, not making the official call. The Election Board is responsible for that.

3. The raw numbers: Dems outvote Rep by 5:2
This with 38% of the precints reporting when I last checked.

I figured that would be the case with Milwaukee and Dane County numbers coming in first. But they comprise 20% of the population, and then it's reported only 7% of Milwaukee was in.
