says he's done he's not coming back.As reported by WTMJ 4 Milwaukee.Did say if the season ended today, that Brett was sick of losing and all that comes with it.I would be sad if Farve left,He may not be the best QB around anymore but he made watching the Packers fun again. It'll be along time until we see good football again. :toast:

1. I think it's for the best
He has embarrassed himself this year.. (league leader in interceptions) and he's too old to wait around until the Packers can come back with a good offensive line and some quality, all-pro quality receivers.....

He has to retire to preserve what's left of his incredible legacy!!!

Thanks for the memories Brett. You made it fun again! :toast:

2. I'll wait for the official announcement.
Didn't Donald Driver say something similar last year?

3. That'd make next season tough...new QB and a new Head Coach
Sooner or later it must happen, I don't know if it's better to lose both and start completely clean or not.

BTW...BEARS WIN! BEARS WIN! Sorry couldn't help myself.

4. His press conference today
sounded like he was done. He didn't have anything in him. He never said that, but that is what I took from his voice. My guess is that he will announce his retirement after the last game and Sherman will be fired within 2 hours.

From a Vikings fan, I would just say that Favre represents all that is good in football. He plays the game because he loves it and realizes that he is not the center of the universe. There are MANY days that I fanticize what it could have been like with Favre in purple tossing the ball to Moss. Oh damn, those would have been GREAT times.

5. I agree
in all those 15 years the only super receiver he ever had was Sharp, with moss they would have been unstoppable.

6. Yes, I too sensed from
the news conference that Brett will be retiring. When you think about it, he really did the best he could with the team that was left. Well, other than all those interceptions I guess. He truly loves the sport and everyone respects him. Now that's a legacy he can be proud of.

7. I don't want to be a Packer apologist
but I don't think a lot of those interceptions were really Brett's "fault." Some of them were desperation passes at the end of halfs. Some of them were the result of blow routes, etc. from the shitty receivers that were not injured. A lot of them were because Brett was being rushed due to a piece of crap O-line (why did they let those two guards get away again?). Look at what happened to rookie when he played. Those sacks were not Aaron's fault, they o-line is horrible--Brett just has more experience not getting sacked.

And that is from a Viking fan. :P

8. Thanks for saying this
It is exactly how I've felt watching the Pack the last two years. This season has been especially awful. I could only bring myself to watch a couple of games and then only for short periods of time. The offensive line just stunk. Nearly every pass Brett threw was either rushed or under such tight coverage that it seemed amazing more of them weren't intercepted.

How sad it has to end this way!

9. Ain't gonna happen......he'll be back for one more year.
He talked to Marino, Montana, & Elway, they all had to retire because of health issues....not Brett. He's good to go another year, and I think he will, and I think Mike Sherman will be there too, and that makes me one huge happy fan. Go Pack Go. :)

10. As a fan of another NFC North team
I hope you are right. Especially about Sherman. He is the genius that let both of the starting guards go to other teams. That was the dumbest decision of the year for him. I just don't think Sherman is that good of a coach. If they don't fix their major problems (I realize there were injuries, but the problems were around before those).

On a related note, how does Rhodes get fired for going .500 and Sherman gets to stick around with 3 wins?

11. Are you sure Sherman is to blame for that?
I thought the free agency decisions were left to the GM. Didn't Thompson take over before those decisions were made?

12. Sherman has had several good seasons.
I don't think he's going to go anywhere. I do think that the Offensive Coordinater will be going.

19. I would think that Favre is smart enough to know
that if he stays next year, they will not have a serious attempt at a Bowl run. The only way he is on another team with a chance at a ring before he can't play anymore is to go to another team. Personally, I don't think he would leave the Packers to play at another team, but he is a smart businessman and would be idiotic to not take a look at all his options before making a decision.
