MJS editorial - Still the straw man arguments (over vote fraud)
Editorial: Still the straw man arguments
From the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Dec. 8, 2005

U.S. Attorney Steven Biskupic helped lead a team that included city police detectives and federal agents who scoured high and low for evidence of vote fraud in Milwaukee in last year's presidential election. To hear state Republican leaders talk, the city is awash in such evidence.

This week, however, Biskupic conceded that the nearly yearlong probe has uncovered only spotty findings of wrongdoing and by no means a "massive conspiracy to alter the election in Milwaukee, one way or another."

Will this concession from President Bush's appointee quiet the Republican hype about massive vote fraud in Milwaukee? It should.

Already, state Republican Party Chairman Rick Graber said, "For anyone to sit back and say our election system doesn't have problems, this is just blatantly false."
