Wisconsin Candlelight Vigils for 2000 Killed in Iraq
There is an old proverb that says a man of words and not of deeds is like a garden full of weeds. Now is as fine a time as any for a good deed and there's plenty of opportunity tomorrow night to show our support for the families of the fallen and ask for peace.

The list below is from MoveOn.org's website as of 5:45 on October 25 and is likely to change quite regularly before tomorrow evening.

Click on the link below for an updated list of vigils near you, to register, or to host one yourself.

1. If you can't make a vigil, please consider lighting a candle at home.
I'm using my electric Christmas candles (hey, they'd be going up in a few weeks anyways).

4. Ah, well, I will be with you and the mayor in spirit
:patriot: :patriot: :patriot:

I can't afford to give up that much time tonight. If there was one closer, I'd be there.

If I had more time, I'd host it myself and save everyone the gas. Dang-it-all!

5. Just got back from the Wausau vigil
actually we went for pie before we came home.

We had a nice turn out, 54, for such short notice. Most saw the little blurb in the newspaper and decided to turn out for it.

I was interviewed by WSAU 55 radio so it will be interesting how they spin it.

8. WSAU?
that should be interesting....

my guess? They'll spin it as a liberal "party" "celebrating" the death of the troops....

Nice turnout, very emotional. Maybe 100 people. They read the names of the troops from WI who have died.

7. Wisconsin Rapids Vigil
Edited on Thu Oct-27-05 08:13 AM by ewagner
Good turnout...maybe 35-38 people. On the bridge over the Wisconsin River.

Got press coverage from Wisconsin Rapids Tribune and WAOW (Channel 9) out of Wausau.

My camera batteries burned out (I think I flipped the switch to "on" when I put it in the case) and I didn't have any spares.

Saw at least two DUers there ( :hi: )

All-in-all it was well done and somewhat solemn.

on edit: hizzhoner the Mayor ended up not going... :(
