Washington - Jamie Wall, one of several Democrats running for the Green Bay-area congressional seat held by Republican Mark Green, has picked up the endorsement of Congressman Dave Obey of Wausau, a Wall aide said Thursday....
....Obey, who represents the adjoining district in northern Wisconsin, will make a formal endorsement Saturday, said the Wall campaign.
While members of Congress typically avoid taking sides in contested primaries in other districts, it is not unheard of....
I got the feeling, hearing Dave Obey speak at the Clark County Dem Dinner Saturday night that he's endorsing because we as a state and as a country cannot afford for him to wait for the race to play out. He thinks Jamie Wall is the best candidate both in having a shot to win and in being a great legislator (and to confess my bias, I have to say I agree at this point).
I've never heard of Obey endorsing anyone before a primary until this past Presidential primary. I get the feeling, listening to him talk, that he has taken our current predicament under the regime of the chimp to heart and has decided there's no time left for pretty talk.
You know it's pretty sad when someone whose been a legislator for over 36 years, through the Nixon, Reagan and Bush I administrations, begins to fear for country.
