1. hey!
That is a VERY good question! I could have swore that typically the way VA votes WV votes opposite. is that not why WV seperated from VA because the people did not share the same views? maybe it's just me that thought that.

anyways, hopefully i have enough posts to make this post on my own but i'll put it in here as well cause everybody should see this:

http://www.geocities.com/lynx444/WestVirginia2004.doc

It just does not make sense how Bush won WV. with 30 of the 55 counties in WV using electronic voting devices i think that there should be an investigation for WV.

2. It is strange. Clinton won WV by 15% in '96.
That's a pretty serious swing in only 8 years. Ugh.

i did not know WV went to Clinton by 15% in '96. I just wonder how many counties then used electronic voting?

5. Seems shocking to me that Wood went
2-1 republican. Sure, we're a conservative area, and * came here twice but driving around yard signage was pretty even, bumperstickers ran generally higher for Kerry, and the dems had a huge turnout at rallys and events.

At first glance, all the discrepancies between Democrat and Republican turnouts can be attributed to bible thumping dems thinking they were voting for the "godly" candidate (Satan's laughing at that one!) but when it gets broken down by tally methods, things start looking different.

Computer tallys only make sense to lazy people.

6. Nothing strange about it
Look what happened to the WV Legislature in 2002. Joe Manchin isn't exactly liberal.

7. Agreed.
The Legislature is turning red right before our eyes. Democrats are no longer untouchable - and you're right about Manchin. He's truly a Democrat by name only.

8. I think the GOPers cheated in WV in 2000, 2002 and 2004!
I think they did it in about every state in the union where the E voting without a paper trail was allowed! I think they did it in state and local races too! Like the state Supreme Court race for one! I think Shellie is and has been smelly too!

10. gun control in all the instances I know of.

Clinton won because the dems hadn't passed any significant gun control legislation in years so it kinda fell off peoples voting agenda. Then Clinton passed Brady and the assault weapons ban and he also changed the requirements for a Federal Firearms License which put a lot of the small gun dealers that had part time businesses out of the business. Then the Republicans claims that the Dems wanted to take peoples guns had some foundation(although a shakey one) and we are probably going to lose this state for a long time.

The man who should be governor. He had a good take on the election.
Legislators with A+ ratings from the NRA have been losing in WV.

12. That last line in your post isn't true...
what are you basing that on?

No candidate with an A+ rating from the NRA lost in WV. Go here for the source:
http://www.nrapvf.org/elections/State.aspx?State=WV

Gun control isn't supported by the people...except where they love crime like DC, Maryland, and NJ. It's good to see the Dems in WV know this and support gun rights. That just makes it soooo easy to be a Dem :)

Its a depressing time to be a Dem in WV.

Joe Manchin
Shelley Capito
Betty Ireland
* winning by so much.

then again, the people here are so damn conservative, its not suprising. probably 85% of the state is pro-life.
