"A large West Virginia hospital seriously overradiated patients suspected of having strokes with CT scans for more than a year after similar episodes prompted federal officials to alert hospitals nationwide to be especially careful when using those types of scans, interviews and documents show. "

Cabell Huntington Hospital.

My wife had surgery there twice and had problems both times.

She had uterine fibroids and had to have a hysterectomy.

She wanted her ovaries left so she didn't have to take estrogen.

So she goes in and when she comes out of surgery the doctor comes out and tells me he accidentally cut one of her ovaries doing it and had to remove it but he left her other one although it had a lot of endometriosis. If he would have come out and asked I would have told him that she would want both to be removed. Anyway then post surgery when she went home she got a big infection.

Well several years later the ovary that he left got so bad it had to be removed. I begged her to get a new OBGYN and not go to Cabell but she said she wasn't worried. This was going to be laproscopic surgery this time in and out the same day. Well after setting in the waiting area for hours he came out. He said he had had problems. He got the other ovary out but he had accidentally cut her bladder open this time and she had to stay a week in the hospital and wear a catheter for 2 weeks. She also nearly went in shock when he removed the catheter early and she couldn't pee.

Oh and to make matters worth BOTH times this doctor did surgery on her he immediately left for vacation and left f/u to a doctor he knew at the hospital who she didn't even know.

Also after staying with her in the hospital and seeing the quality of care at Cabell if I was in a car wreck or fell over in front of the hospital if I was conscious I'd jump out of the ambulance unless they agreed to take me up to CAMC or Saint Francis in Charleston. After our experiences with Cabell Huntington and University OB GYN no way in HELL I want anything to do with them!

2. Some additional info.

“I lost a 4-inch wide strip of hair that went from one side of my head to the other, recalls the 36-year-old mother of two from Kenova, W.Va. “I went to my family physician and then to a dermatologist who said he’d never seen anything like it.”
