Student in trouble after endorsement

PARKERSBURG - A mayoral endorsement by a group claiming to be West Virginia University at Parkersburg's College Republicans club has landed one student in hot water.

A press release was sent to local media announcing the school's College Republicans group had been re-established and was endorsing Democrat Robert Newell in his race against Republican Rick Modesitt to be mayor of Parkersburg.
College officials say the group is not officially recognized by the school. Warren Bigley, listed in the press release as the group's president, said he has been placed on probation because of the release.
