Susman to run for Senate
Too many people in this area feel the Democratic Party has abandoned their beliefs," the Raleigh County Democrat said. "As a pro-life Democrat, I will ask the overwhelming number of family value Democrats in Raleigh and Wyoming counties to come home to the Democratic fold. We have room in the Democratic Party for all views."

1. Sounds Perfect for a currently GOP bit of WV.
...Run a pro-Life or socially moderate Dem nearly anywhere in WV, the west of Kentucky, eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania and they'll normally beat any given republican.

2. Why does everyone think Robert Byrd will lose?
Here in Pennsylvania the tribune-review(western PA's right-wing paper) has been saying that republiicans will not have a hard time getting "the pork king" out of office.

what has Byrd done to piss off west virginians that will get booted out of office? did he vote yea on CAFTA or something? cause the man has been office since eisenhower was president what makes the republicans think they can get the 87 year old senator out of office with shelley moore capito as there candidate?

4. two on Byrd / Capito

From the Daily Kos:
WV-Sen: Capito might want to stay in the House
by kos
Thu Sep 8th, 2005 at 16:20:22 PDT

RMS Strategies. Date and MoE unknown. (5/11-18 results)
Byrd (D) 55 (46)
Capito (R) 39 (43
More evidence that the NRSC attack ad against Byrd backfired disastrously. Rather than drive up his negatives, the ad seems to have created a "rally around the flag" effect for Byrd as West Virginians resent the attacks from D.C.
Capito has been playing a game of chicken with Byrd, threatening him into retirement if faced with the possibility of a strong challenge. Byrd is, ahem, up there in years, and wouldn't have the stamina for a fierce campaign. But MoveOn stepped in with some major fundraising, dampening Byrd's fears of a fundraising deficit. The GOP wants Byrd out desperately, him being one of their fiercest and most fearless critics. But their early efforts are clearly backfiring.
If Caputo was smart, she would pass on the race and wait six years. This will be an open seat in 2012, and given the rightward tilt of the state, she'd be the prohibitive favorite. Heck, Rockefeller may retire before them anyway, given her an earlier stab at the Senate. There seems little reason for her to surrender her House seat for a quixotic run against one of West Virginia's greatest.
But far be it for me to offer advice to Republicans.

6. Only 55%? Byrd got 70%+ in 2000 and 69% in 1994.

8. women's rights
what rights do women have that are more than men's rights under the Constitution?

I'm pro-life with exceptions, I'm also a WV voter who has never voted for a republican in any race that mattered.
Unless the female was raped or became pregnant via incest, or the woman's life is in danger if she has the child, then why should a woman need an abortion?

There are other methods of birth control out there, use them. If they don't work and you don't want the child, or can't afford the child, then you should have thought of that before having sex.

I support pro-life dems, just as much as pro-choice dems. I'm not a single issue voter and there are way more important issues out there than abortion.

None.

But since men can't get pregnant, we'll have little need to ever exercise our right to choose.

10. Well said . . .
You've clearly delineated your personal reasons for and against abortion.

Abortion is a deeply personal decision. It's best made between a woman and her physician. Not by some pandering, pontificating politician.

That having been said, I wish Sally the very best in her race.

What matters here is beating Russ Weaks-minded. I hope that can be the focus. Sally can do that. The other two can't. The "pro-life" (what a joke) Religion Industry people will crawl out from under the baseboards to smear Bill Wooten, just like they did last time. Those freaks would vote for a quivering blob of protoplasm if it had a "pro-life" sticker on it. Come to think of it, they did. Russ Weaks-minded.
