2007 elections--lots of local races going on
The Mayor of Bremerton resigned unexpectedly in the middle of campaigning for re-election, I was shocked. Bremerton has done some pretty cool things during his tenure. I haven’t agreed with everything, I would have liked to see a stronger emphasis on neighborhoods and families. However, I have liked the big steps forward. For those of you that grew up here with Leslie and me … you would not believe the downtown area. It is very cool.

So here is the big deal. The final filing date for running for this office is only about ten days away. Not one of the people that has stepped up to run makes me very happy.

Since you all know me … I am going to be very blunt. For 40 years, we watched Bremerton ebb and flow between stagnation and decline. Lots of ideas but no action. Through all of that time there has remained a spirit of community and pride. Many of us grew up here and came back as teachers, community leaders and many (like me) chose to return as business professionals.

With the encouragement of many people who care about our city, I have decided to run for Mayor of my town. For me … this is not political … it is personal. I grew up here. I cruised Pacific Ave in my 66 Mustang. I watched movies in the Roxy and the Admiral. My kids have all gone from grade school through high school here. I love and care for my community and the many friends and family that live here with me.

This is a non-partisan race. I have a platform, I have a plan and I am more then willing to go into it in detail but you know me. I have never been afraid to share my opinion. My leanings, views and “flavor” are pretty obvious.

So here is the test of my electronic connections. If I am going to file and jump into this race at such a late date I need to really step it up. I need to get a pretty big announcement mailing out and have the filing fee by June 5th. This is truly a grassroots and organic campaign. We don’t have a website up yet. We will be running with volunteers.

Once I am in the race … I will have plenty of time to court each of you, answer questions, etc. Right now, I don’t so please excuse my bluntness.

If you are able … please send a campaign donation ASAP. This is a local, non partisan race to there is no minimum or maximum contribution level. Any amount will help.

Committee to Elect Daryl Daugs
1419 Lindberg Place
Bremerton , WA 98310

Please help me keep Bremerton moving forward!

Thank you,
Daryl Daugs, Past Chair
35th LD Democrats

6. Fundraiser 9/10 in Shoreline
Thursday, September 10, 2009 between 6:30 - 8 p.m

15005 Aurora Avenue North Shoreline, WA 98133

Please come to a fundraiser/gathering at the campaign storefront with a light supper, music, (perhaps even a brief singing-optional Sing-Along. Bring your kazoo!), and great company (that's you and me). There will be campaign updates, and I promise, minimal speeches.

I hope you can come!
Mayor Cindy Ryu

Dear Friends,

The Fall campaign is underway! I am grateful for all the support you have given me, both during this campaign as well as my previous City Council campaigns. Nothing is ever possible without the support of tremendous friends like you. And I need your help now more than ever. Please, if you can, make a contribution of $50, $100 or $200 today. You can mail contributions to: Friends for Cindy Ryu * 15017 Aurora Avenue N, Shoreline, WA 98133-6134 or donate online at www.cindyryu.com

Our campaign is moving forward with tremendous strength. We have already knocked on well over 3,000 doors and these efforts are ongoing. Many of you have walked with me at one point or another, and heard the issues that are on the minds of voters here in Shoreline.

People are concerned about their neighborhoods and all the challenges they face. They are worried about development at Point Wells, about the prospect of a jail in Shoreline, and about how we can push for sound economic development that is sustainable and protects our natural environment.

These issues drive me each and every day to continue protecting our city’s wonderful neighborhoods and local businesses. I pledge to you and all of Shoreline’s citizens that the concerns of neighborhood leaders and working families will always be heard so long as I am on the City Council.

But in order to get out my message, I need your help. My opponent will undoubtedly be well funded and she has many special interests working on her behalf. Please, mail a contribution of $50, $100 or $200.

Thanks again for all that you do, both for my campaign, but more importantly, for the city we love.

With warm regards,

Cindy

5. King County's Green Choice Debate in Seatt;e 6/30

When:
Tuesday, June 30th 2009, at 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Where:
Town Hall
1119 8th Ave
Seattle, WA 98101

Host:
King County's Green Choice

Contact:
info {at} kingcountygreenchoice.org

Info:
This year’s race for King County Executive is heating up fast. Five candidates are running to replace Ron Sims, who was appointed by President Obama as Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. The King County Executive is an important position that has considerable impact on Washington’s environment. The next Executive will have an impact on issues such as Puget Sound restoration, transportation, land use, and much more.

Voters in King County make the environment a top priority at the ballot box, but now we have a chance to urge the candidates to make it their top priority. You can find out where candidates stand on the environment at the King County’s Green Choice Debate at Town Hall on June 30th!

So, the question is: which candidate will be the best environmental leader as the next King County Executive? We’ve put this nonpartisan campaign together with a broad range of environmental policy organizations, fair housing advocates, and environmental justice groups to help YOU decide about your choice for King County Executive.

Please join us for this debate to kick-off a summer of raising the profile of environmental issues in this important election.

Space is limited, so please RSVP. After submitting the RSVP form, there will be an option to submit your own question for the candidates at the town hall debate.

Notes:
This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:00pm. Please be sure to fill in your RSVP in the box on the right side of this page!
