That was eliminated to make the process easier for newbies. You can vote for any candidate (withdrawn or not) or Uncommitted. The 15% requirement kicks in only at the LD/county conventions.

I talked to a fellow from the 34th LD who is planning to caucus for Al Gore. And yes, he can do that. Uncommitted is a viable strategy for caucusers for backers of those candidates who don't get enough support for a delegate. They can coalesce to get an Uncommitted delegate.

3. thank you for this but if they don't know this at the caucus i would like an official
source of this information if you have it. And....i wish to thank you for all your help.

And after all this caucus excitement is over I would like to address how to fix the horribly broken system here in Wash the state. Primary vs. caucus and super-delegates.

4. Doesn't that make it even less likely that they would get any delegates?
It's entirely possible that a group of people could manage to get 15% at a precinct caucus for someone in Edwards' position, but not likely at all that he can gather 15% support at a county level?

5. Not really. It's like skiing
You need a good snowpack in November in order to have decent skiing in February. The more delegates you have at the precinct level, the more likely you are to have a chance at the LD/county level. You are more likely to have precinct delegates with no threshold. As a caucus convener, I say HOORAY! One less hurdle to get newbie precinct chairs over. The delegates to the LD/county conventions will be more informed, having been through the process once.
