Constitutional Amendment Questions
There will be three constitutional amendment votes on the ballot in two weeks. I have no doubt on how I'll vote regarding the first amendment; "against," of course. A vote for the second amendment seems to favor Jerry Farwell, so I'll vote against that as well. The third one is the one I don't know anything about. As soon as I figure out how to vote on that, I'll cast my absentee ballot.

Here's an editorial: Two amendments to support.

I'd like to hear what listers have to say. Thanks.

1. I have a question

Where can I find a list of all issues that are being voted on in Virginia?

3. #2 and #3
#1 is the anti-gay marriage amendment. I'm voting NO on this with extreme enthusiasm and hope everyone else here does likewise.

#2 would remove the provision in the Virginia constitution prohibiting the incorporation of churches. In practical terms it doesn't make any difference whether this passes, since that provision was declared unconstitutional. However, I'm voting NO anyway.

#3 would allow for partial property tax exemption for property used for conservation, redevelopment or rehabilitation. On a first reading of this I would lean YES but have not made up my mind. I'd have to find out more about who is supporting this and who is opposed. For example, does this mean environmental groups and land trusts wanting to preserve open space, or is this something that the real estate industry is backing? I don't know. I'd like to know more.
