VA02 Poll: Kellam Leads Drake Phil Kellam up 45% to 42% over vulnerable freshman
Thelma Drake Drake's job performance rating dismal with just 36% positive, 53% negative
VIRGINIA BEACH - Virginia's 2nd district Democratic nominee Phil Kellam released a district-wide general election poll today showing him with a three-point lead over vulnerable freshman Thelma Drake. The attached polling advisory from Alan Secrest of Cooper & Secrest Associates of Alexandria, Virginia details some of the polls findings.
"It seems clear that second district voters are rejecting Thelma Drake's poor record in Congress and are ready for the kind of change that Phil Kellam has been talking about," said Charlie Kelly, Kellam's campaign manager. "We are exceptionally confident about the strong, aggressive campaign we are running, and we will continue unabated until November."
Kellam, who comes from a well-known family in the district, is currently serving as Commissioner of the Revenue in Virginia Beach after easily winning a third term last November.
