1. I'm currently undecided.
Hurst seems to be the most progressive candidate.

Webb seems to be the shoe-in and the best challenge to Allen. He also isn't spending money on tv during the primary.

Miller is running strange attack ads against Webb and do not seem fair since Millers own Democratic credentials are as shaky as Webb's. Anyone turned off by these ads?

3. Hurst is running for Tom Davis' Seat, isn't he?
I like Longmeyer, and he's running as well, tough choice.

He gave Tom a pretty good run the last time, which was fantastic considering he came out of nowhere, and Tom had run unopposed the election before that.

4. Yeah, my bad, for lumping him in with Webb/Miller
I got a call from his campaign and the guy only made comparisons with Webb/Miller.

7. Voted other. Both candidates have done everything they . . .
can to make me not vote for them in the primary. Now I'm way more interested in seeing if we can get rid of Tom Davis.

9. Don't be discouraged
Webb gives us a good chance against Allen. His campaign would come together the moment he wins the primary. You watch. Already, he has the press attention.

So vote for Jim Webb and tell your family and friends to do so.

11. Welcome to DU Rhombus
Thanks, but there's no way I'm voting for Webb in primary. Whoever wins the primary will get my vote in the general election.

12. Rogue Emissary, please reconsider
To wait until others have decided the nominee for you is to take a chance that the unelectable will be nominated to run against Allen. Harris Miller will be trounced by Allen, and we'll be stuck with him for a couple more years while he uses the power of his Senate platform to spring to a presidential run. He will NOT spend his time serving Virginia.

If Jim Webb is our nominee, he can literally change the course of history and take Allen out. Webb is the strongest possible person to put up against Allen, and the national media, analysts, Democratic Senate leaders, as well as Wes Clark and John Kerry know it. They endorsed Webb and have put out the call to their supporters to give money and time.

If you sit this primary out waiting for the rest of the voters to make the decision, you could be left with a real dud. The general election may not matter at all if Miller is the nominee. Please reconsider, and take the time to go to the polls Tuesday to put the Best Possible Democratic hope to take Cowboy George out. This primary will be very low turnout, and that makes each and every vote more significant.

Just curious. Have you seen and heard both candidates, or just read what the papers have to say? The Richmond TD has been merciless on Webb and not nearly so for Miller. They know a weak candidate when they see one, and they want Allen to sail to victory so they back Miller. That should give you a clue!

13. I use to think that one guy was more or less electable than another.
Now, after paying close attention to the last ten years of elections. It's clear no one knows who can or can't get elected. Just because everybody says it over and over again that Webb's more electable doesn't make it so. Ask the Kerry supporters about being the most electable candidate.

Choosing between Miller and Webb is no choice to me. I'd have to betray some or most of my ideals to vote for either of them.

I've read their quotes. Also check out their web sites, as well as hit Raising Kaine on a daily bases. They're equally bad to me and that's as primary candidates only.

14. If that's how you feel...
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 07:55 AM by magnolia
...then at least look at the big picture: Getting rid of George Allen and getting a democratic majority in the Senate.

I don't know who will win tomorrow but I do know that Miller stands no chance of beating Allen, and Webb does. No democrat can win in Virginia without republican votes. Miller gives them no reason to vote for him. They don't need another outsourcing lobbyist in there party when they have Allen who is clean (as far as we know) in these areas. Miller's postition on Iraq is the same as Allen...they were for it when it was popular and against it when it got ugly. Webb was against long before it even happened. He wrote an editorial in the Washington Post laying out what would happen and he was right. Kerry, Shumer, many others have endorced Webb. This is rarely done in a primary since they can't change their endorsement after the election. So, apparently they felt they have nothing to lose. Webb will have national endorsements and get money from the national committee...Miller won't. Simple.

I happen to like Webb. But what I would like a lot more is to have a majority in the Senate so that the democrats have some power to do something...most especially start impeachment proceedings.

You sound like those people who said there was no difference between Bush and Gore in 2000. If you don't see a difference, then you need to broaden your vision.

15. Since webb's victory is so certain, why bother with my . . .
paltry primary vote? If Webb can beat a very popular Republican, how could he lose against Miller?

By the way i believe every negative talking point you have a against Miller. I still wouldn't vote for Webb in the primary. No matter who wins I'll still vote against Allen.

16. Virginia has an open primary.
Conservative bloggers have been encouraging republicans to vote for Miller which will help Allen.

Miller has attacked Webb in a Rove-like fashion that unfortunately works very well.

8. Have already donated some dollars to Webb's campaign.
I must say I'm not particularly crazy about him, but it does look like he has a chance to beat Allen, and right now that's the most important priority as far as I'm concerned.
