Rep. delegate Reid shoots off his gun in the Capitol bldg.
Of course he immediately makes a huge apology, claiming it was an accident that occurred while he was "cleaning" it. Yeah, right. What in hell does he need a gun in the Capitol bldg for anyway - they have armed state police all around the place. The bullet was stopped by a bullet-proof vest which he just conveniently had hanging on the door of his office. Suppose somebody had just accidentally opened the door at that moment??

And he grabbed big headlines in the Richmond paper today and on TV last night. Since he comes from a radical wingnut area of Henrico, this has probably ensured that he will be re-elected for life. A lot cheaper than paying for an expensive campaign.

To really cement his tenure he needs to work Jesus into it somehow. Maybe Jesus told him to tote the shootin' arn??

7. I just realized, fooj - you may have thought I meant US capitol.
This was here in the VA capitol building - while the general assembly is in session.

2. yay! Another Richmond DUer!!!!
:hi:

I'm technically a Richmond expat but it's always nice to know there are DUers there!

another question is why the hell he is cleaning his gun in the Capitol bldg? Seems like more of a thing one does at home , no?

6. He has a concealed weapon permit.
Claims he totes because he's gotten "threatening phone calls." If you believe that, we need to talk about a bridge I have for sale. Maybe the phone calls were from the terrorists who were waging war on Christmas???

The bulletproof vest reportedly was a gag gift to him from the Sheriff of Henrico.

Crazy like a fox.

8. I can't wait to hear from the right wing NRA nuts
who are always telling us that we need to enforce the existing laws against illegal gun use. I'm sure they don't mean to enforce the laws against Republican Representatives firing guns inside of public buildings. They're only concerned with gun crimes committed by Black guys.

9. Ding, ding, ding!!
Lefty48197 nails it!

There was an interesting commentary about it on one of the newscasts last night. In VA, if you have a CWP, you still cannot carry a gun into church or anyplace where alcohol is being served (Jesus, booze and firearms just don't go together I guess), or locations prohibited by Federal law (airports, etc.). Anywhere else is fair game.

So, if you want to go call on your state delegate to ask about the progress of a bill on ... say, public education, healthcare, any of those pesky little problems ... KA-BLAM! You're a goner. And it was just a li'l ole accident while I was cleanin' mah li'l ole shootin' arn.

God it's wonderful living in the South.
