Warner is a star, send him to the WH as Pres or VP. How big would winning VA be for our side in 08?

3. It's tough to move from Senate to WH.

I'd rather see Mark really rev up his engines and go for the big one. Surely we can find somebody else to taunt Allen during the next election (he says with fingers crossed).

6. I disagree - Senate experience is important

Post 9-11, it will be hard for any candidate to get elected without some international experience. The Senate is a good platform to get that experience.

Many people say that being a senator makes you vulnerable as a Presidential candidate. I totally disagree. When you look at the reasons why Mondale, Gore and Kerry lost, it was not because of they served in the Senate. The attempts to attack Kerry's senate record were weak and didn't matter much in the end.

4. Warner would be a viable VP candidate, if not the head of the ticket.

The Senate is important, but like others have said, we need to wisely spend Warner's political capital where it can do the most good.

I think we should save him, but for sure we need to get Warner's and Kaine's campaign managers working on whoever runs against Allen.

5. Warner has already made it real clear that he's giving the Senate

a pass in 2006. He clearly has his eyes on 2008. If that doesn't pan out, he will likely run for an open Senate seat in 2010 -- Sen. John Warner (R) is rumored to be retiring.
