1. WTF? Why does the machine need plugs if it has a battery?
:( This is very disturbing and confusing. Unfortunately, my state of GA was the first in the nation to go ALL Diebold (every polling place in the state, 100 fucking percent.) :(

3. Yeah, I called a lot of Democratic officials in Georgia...
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 06:18 PM by woldnewton
all the way up to the Lt. Governor

They didn't seem interested in even acknowledging the problem. And then there's that Cathy Cox b**ch...

7. Here in Duluth
today's municipal election used paper fill-in-the-arrow ballots, instead of the Diebold machines. However, I had to show my ID to get a ballot, even though a Federal court suspended GA's voter ID law.

6. Link to story here: Voting 'glitches' in Metro Richmond

<snip>

Problems with some voting locations in Metro Richmond Tuesday. In some cases, the problem was technology inside the polls. But, some in Chesterfield had an issue even getting to their polling place.

In Richmond, voting machines in four precincts out of 64 had problems: Fairmont House, Norrell School, Main Street Station and Broad Rock. The voting machines weren’t plugged in right and their batteries died about 10:30 AM. Some voters didn’t like the option they were given then.

“We were accused of turning people away, telling them they could not vote,” says poll chief Bonnie Banton. “They were given three options: They could wait until the machines were fixed of they could vote a paper ballot or they could come back later. No one was told they could not vote.”

Richmond’s problem was fixed by noon. All the votes cast before the machines shut down were saved and will be counted.

In Chesterfield , some had an issue getting to their polling place. Detour signs were just blocks from a polling place. Normally -- not a big deal. But, some voters not familiar with the roads were worried it could affect turnout.

8. If I may...
In Chesterfield , some had an issue getting to their polling place.

Don't worry about Chesterfield. Really. That's where I live, and IIRC my clearly pod-people neighbors went something like almost 2-to-1 for the Chimposter last year.

9. Come back later?
WTF? ? ? Does the Commonwealth give people a HOLIDAY to vote? These people need to get REAL here - people have chores, jobs, children, responsibilities - it is THEIR job to make sure the mechanics to cast their VOTE are there and WORKING.
