The Politics Behind New Voter ID Laws
Voters going to the polls next year — and even some this year — will encounter a lot of new rules. Photo ID requirements and fewer options for early voting are among the biggest changes.

They're part of a wave of new laws enacted by Republican-controlled legislatures this year. Supporters say the rules are needed to ensure honest elections

1. That's why they are stealing all four new districts in the Texas

Rick Perry and the Republicans are betting that ...

You Don't Care

That's why they are stealing all four new districts in the Texas Congressional map. They want four more failed ideologues in Congress like Louie Gohmert, Joe Barton, Pete Sessions, andTed Poe. You can help fight back!

Perry and Republicans can be stopped because …
They broke the Law
The US Voting Rights Act makes it illegal to dilute the voting strength of minority citizens, but that's exactly what Perry and the Republicans have done. They can be stopped and fairness restored if we fight back in the Federal Courts and before the US Justice Department.

Progressive leaders like State Representative Marc Veasey have formed the Fair Texas Plaintiffs to convince the US Department of Justice to reject the Perry plan, and they have filed suit in Federal Court to win approval of a new map that is fair to all Texans.

Read more about the Fair Texas Plaintiffs efforts here.

You can help restore justice and prove Perry wrong if you …
Join the Fight

Unlike the Republicans, Veasey and the Fair Texas plaintiffs don’t have government funds to fight back. They must raise all the money needed to win fair districts for Texas.

Every dollar the Lone Star Project raises between now and August 31st will be used to support the legal challenge led by Representative Marc Veasey and the Fair Texas Plaintiffs.

Give $50, $100, $500 or anything you can afford to make sure that Perry and the Republicans don't rip off Texas voters. .

Facts you should know:
• Texas received four new congressional districts only because of Hispanic and African Population growth.
• The number of Hispanic Texans grew at 10 times the rate of Anglos. African American grew at 5 times the rate of Anglos.
• Anglos make up only 45 percent of the Texas population, but Perry and the Republicans broke up working class neighborhoods across Texas so that Anglo Republicans will hold over 70 percent of all Texas districts.

The Lone Star Project is an activity of the Lone Star Fund.
Contributions or gifts to the Lone Star Fund are not tax deductible. All contributions are subject to the prohibitions and limitations of the Federal Election Campaign Act. Federal Law requires us to use best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in a calendar year.

Paid for by The Lone Star Fund, 6 E St, SE, Washington, DC 20003.
Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

2. Exactly
I do care about them stealing all four seats and not even recognizing that it was the strength of minority voters that gave Texas 4 extra congressional seats!
